From the fantastic, all time classic, DS to the late Bertone designed, XM, Citroen’s limos always managed to grab attention with their design and advanced technology but also with their various curious solutions such as “button” brakes, steady steering wheel hub etc. So does the all new C6 follow in line with its predecessors such as the late ‘70s CX (which you can see in the video) or does it take on the safe road following the likes of mainstream German models? Jeremy Clarkson gets his hands on the all new Citroen C6 and tries to give us an answer.

Veeery nice! So the C6 out-handles the BMW huh.
She's a magic carpet with majestic ride. In fact, she gives her passengers almost no fatigue over 2000km trans-Europe trip, that's marvellous.
Her Achilles-heel is a V6 gasoline engine. Certainly her XU94S unit propels her up to manufacturer data of 230km/h(143mph) and sometimes around 250km/h(155mph) in well loosen-up example,so her cruising efficiency is commendable for the combination of 215bhp/30kgm unit and hefty 1820kg(4000lbs) body. On the other hand, her acceleration times,as middle 9secs for 0-62mph,suggest lethargic attributes of her unit. Above all,her average fuel consumption of 8km/l is almost out of question to today's standard, vastly inferior to those of comparable units from Mercedes,BMW,and Audi.
The newly-born 3.0-litres V6 turbodiesel is very savior to such doldrums, but in several areas of the world(including Japan,my home country) diesel-powered passenger cars are actually prohibited. So we do expect the debut of brand-new V6 petrol unit from PSA(Peugeot-Citroen group). If realized, that's the true trigger for new era of French-made luxury cars!
