Humvee goes bazurk in Iraq

The author of this video asks us to watch and see how the American soldiers have to drive through Iraqi streets to limit risks of attacks. I’ll just ask how would these people feel if they were in one of those cars with their kids sitting in the rear seat… For whatever reason, no one has the right to act like this. Period. Makes you wonder why Iraqi people want the US out of their country. How many whiplash cases in that 3 minute video?

Driver of that vehicle is a twat

what it really shows is that US forces don't have freedom to operate, so much for hearts and minds.

When one of the tactics of the islamofacists we're fighting is to slow down a vehicle/convoy to make it an easier target, it's perfectly acceptable for us to nudge other vehicles out of the way if they don't yield to our faster moving vehicles. I only wish I could do that to the slugs who clog up the left lane here in the States.

damn that right there was just wrong wat the "heroes" did

Anyone ever think that maybe this is a hummer ambulance?
Maybe it's a normal Hummer and they just got ambushed and are racing wounded soldiers to get treated?

my gosh there were children runing and he/she didnt even stop

Considering that a Air strike or the mounted .50 cal on the roof....could have been called into play in a effort to clear the road...this video shows a very humane way to move slower traffic out of the way.
Oh my god.... think of the children, yes please do... many of them are spotters for the insurgency...as many of our Soldiers have been wounded or killed by IEDs and RPGs...there should be a cleared lane for nothing but Military vehicles.
Conquered people need to act like they're conquered.

You people are fucking morons for whining about this. Get a life.

This video needs to be taken in context. Our troops are getting killed on a daily basis in that country...usually when their vehicles are blown up by roadside bombs or ambushed.

Given that contxt, the driver of that humvee was driving in a responsible manner consistent with keeping himself and everyone on board out of danger, as well as minimizing any risk of damage or danger to the Iraqi citizens around him.

If you didn't notice, that driver was constantly on the horn. Some of those cars moved over, some didn't. I would think someone honking behind you would encourage you to look in your rear view and see the looming AM General grill and .50 caliber machine gun and move your car over. For those who chose to ignore...they got a slight tap to get their attention. No big deal.

As far as the children running in the street, I don't think that humvee came close to hitting a pedestrian, and I see grown adults run in front of traffic all the time in downtown Chicago...no one gets hit.

Folks, let's be a little less critical of the troopers who put their lives on the line every. single. time. they. walk. outside. their. front. door.

I heard thru a friend who was there that they learned the hard way that the only way to get other cars in Iraq out of the way was not horns or flashing lights but a heavy hit from behind! Holy Cow I thought she was exaggerating!

That’s not cool at all…some of these people work their whole life for the privilege of an automobile, only to have it smashed by an American soldier looking for his 15mins of You-Tube fame!!

If they really cared about people moving out of the way, maybe some sirens or flashing lights would do the trick. I an country where honking your horn is considered very normal, I doubt they would have any concept of what to do when a Humvee come speeding up behind them honking it horn.

Is there posted signed saying, “Move over for raging Humvee’s.” ??

C’mon, this video is a blatant display of how to be a Douche-bag.

Folks, we're not there and people usually dont do things without a good reason.

Also, when driving through enemy territory, it's always best NOT to stop.

    Don't be silly.

Do you know anything at all about the situation in question?

    Were they carrying wounded soldiers?

Were they attacked prior and trying to get away?

Were they escorting the Prime Minister?

Were hey on a rescue mission?

Were they in a dangerous neighborhood?

Were they not leaning on the horn?

    Are sirens impractical?

    Is this common?

    Is this one-off?

Is this a common tactic to avoid bombs?

A bomb is much worse than a dent, no?

Ho many people have been killed in ambushes in the middle of town?

If a dent will save the lives of soldiers and surrounding civilians, it's worth it.

That tactic can be used in this country for presidential motorcades as well. Although here the roads are cleared ahead of time to additionally minimize risk.

There was nothing egregious about the way the driver handled his vehicle. Everyone there knows that Americans are targets, and they understand that they must make way. The driver was honking his horn continuously, avoiding hitting any bumpers hard, swerving to avoid hitting pedestrians and oncoming traffic. The guy was doing fine! He was driving no differently than a police officer would in the US, and no one here gets upset if cops have to drive oddly to do their job. I don't think it was a good idea for the US to go into Iraq, but COME ON there is nothing objectionable about how this guy was driving. Get real.

Look at those soldiers acting like they own the place hahahah... oh ya WTF we doing in Iraq again?

  17. Anonymous // January 31, 2007

it is called survival. these soldiers face being killed every day. if your life was in real danger every second you were outside, you would be driving the same way. i know i would.

"Anyone ever think that maybe this is a hummer ambulance?"

That's why there's a big red cross painted on the hood right? And how their comments don't seem like it's an emergency. Fukkin americans ....

It is a known tactic of the insurgency to have a blocker car, which has the entire job to slow down a vehicle which is to be the target of an IED attack. This isn't normal warfare people, it's fought in a completly different way which we are not used to. If any convoys moved at the normal rate of traffic, they would be sitting ducks for attack all the time. It may not be right that they are being forced to drive that way, but that's the only way to avoid attack. Notice the entire time the horn is going, usually a siren is also going, so that the traffic knows to move way. Normal traffic should move way. An insurgent car blocking traffic though to force a vehicle into traffic will not make way, that is why they have to operate that way. Iraqi Police vehicles, Iraqi Army vehicles drive the same way down the same roads.

George got us stuck in here with his brilliant plan based on false evidence. It's not right the way it has been managed but the fact of the matter is, we ARE there, and we can't fully pull out now, we have to deal with it and do the best we can as we gradually reduce our troops and had it back to the Iraqi's.

  20. Anonymous // February 01, 2007

It looks like some of the vehicles moved rather quickly. I'd imagine, you get nugged once, the next time you see a Humvee you MOVE. Eventually, it will be known in that community that you DO NOT block a Humvee. I see nothing wrong there.

    ** REMEMBER **
    WAR ZONE! <<-----

  21. Anonymous // February 08, 2007

    Remember...
A war is when two armies are fighting.

Our presence in Iraq is an invasion.

The driver of this Humvee is just a scared little man.
