Kid trades in his Civic gets a Nissan 350Z and a few days later splits the car in two

|

-Continued: Click “Read More…” below

north on Kirby near San Felipe before he crashed his 350Z. "At some point, the Nissan lost control, left the roadway, striking two trees and pinning both occupants in the vehicle. The BMW left the scene." said Capt. Milton Martin of the Houston Police Department. Unfortunately, while the girl wasn't hurt seriously, the 20-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries. I can't help but feeling sorry for the guy even if it does appear that he did something totally immature. Links: My350Z & ABC13

Stupid kid, his parents should be charged allowing him driving car like that..

Anonymous said... »April 25, 2007

The kid was 20. how could that be the parents fault?

Anonymous said... »May 03, 2007

Im 20 and I drive a gtr - 34 =_= . should my parents be charged as well.

Geeze.

Anonymous said... »May 29, 2007

its got nothin at all to do with the parents. think abt it...if u were 20 and u got a car like tht do u really think ud let ur parents say "im not lettin u drive tht car"...yeah...right, u'd turn round to em n shove ur fingers up.

i think the kid shud be considered entirely lucky tht he escaped tht horrific crash alive and tht the girl did aswell, VERY lucky if u ask me, altho ive got no sympathy with him cos its obvious he cdnt control the car

Anonymous said... »July 08, 2007

Why should the parents be charge? I'm 16 and I have a fully loaded '07 G35..

Anonymous said... »July 08, 2007

i'm 18 and i got a 350z. is he's fault, he is 20 years-old...enough age to think what are you doing..

(sorry for my english... i come from a spanish speaking country)

Anonymous said... »August 03, 2007

you guys pay for your car or parents did? no 16 year old kid can afford to buy a 350z or 07 G35. you guys need to work hard for your car.

Darin said... »August 05, 2007

What's with the "most importantly, rear-wheel drive" BS? When I was a kid, I lost control in RWD, FWD, and AWD cars. Don't give RWD a bad rap just because you, the reporter, are afraid of it.

Anonymous said... »August 11, 2007

God was on his side that night, for him to still be alive. I'm 23 years old and i have the same exact car.. age has nothing to do with an accident, it all depends on how experience the driver is.

lets just hope that when he start to drive again, if he feels the need for speed, he'll take it to the track where its alot safter...

O and let hope his girl does'nt leave him because of this.

My prayers goes out to him and his family, and his girls's too.

Anonymous said... »August 30, 2007

BAHAHAHAHAHA this is why you NEVER trust a kid who drives civics with anything over 200hp

Jordan said... »September 11, 2007

haha.... if he was able to trade his civic in for a 350z his fwd honda probably had 450 whp. i use to live in houston where the import scene is huge. shit happens, its risk street racers take. should be careful in populated areas and yes i agree track racing is the safest.

but for you r-tards, on every accident with a kid in a nice car you b*** cause your jealous and you automatically blame the parents. this 20 year old prolly owns his own house, who knows. so stfu good day

Anonymous said... »September 14, 2007

I'm surpised anyone suvived that crash. 350Z= pretty damn safe. I have an 06 and it makes me feel great to know it's possible to walk away from something like this.

Gilbert said... »September 18, 2007

for the person who said 18 year old's should work for their car, i AM 18 and i DO pay for my own 350z. I can afford it because i DO work hard for it, so don't assume age has anything to do with it.

Anonymous said... »September 26, 2007

age has nothing to do with this, i turned sixteen in september and i just picked up a 350z, i work hard as a gymnastics instructer to pay for the car, and i knowo not race in a car i paid for and have a chance to have it looking like the top one like that

Anonymous said... »October 05, 2007

Please - "pretty damn safe - I feel safe in my 350z seeing this?"

This was a miracle. The 350z was, at least last year, the third most fatal car in this country. Out of a million drivers, 193 died in accidents like this. The Z was only topped by the number 2 Acura RSX (211/1million) and the Chevy Blazer (233/1million). This data could be wrong at this point, but don't count your chickens before they hatch.

This was seriously...something besides a safe car.

And I agree - just because he was 20 doesn't mean his parents bought his Z - I've had 3 Z's, all purchased by me, and I'm 28. I've never wrecked them, just traded them for newer models every 2 years. It's all about choices in this case, and he chose to risk it (as many have). Granted, bad idea with the girl in the car... But it's no one's fault but his own. Who cares who paid for the car (probably him) or what he drove before? He made the choice to race. And it was, obviously, not the best choice for that night.

Anonymous said... »October 09, 2007

the reason why the car is the 3RD most fatal car is because do stupid things in it liek street race, doughnuts, burnouts and so on its not that the car isnt safe its that the drivers arent safe when driving them

Anonymous said... »October 14, 2007

age has nothing to do with driving or buying a car. im almost 17 and i just got a 350z with my own money. my parents didn't help me at all. i've been working my ass off since i was 15 1/2 and i barely spent any money. but it paid off. i love this car. and i'm not stupid about driving it cuz if i crash it its completly my loss.

Anonymous said... »October 21, 2007

The reason the reporter mentioned the fact that this car is RWD is because of the fact that a Civic is a FWD vehicle. The point at which a FWD and a RWD will lose control are very different. RWD tend to lose control way before a FWD ever would, and when you add more power to the equation you would spin out even quicker.

Anonymous said... »November 07, 2007

My girlfriends parents bought her a 350Z right after her 17th birthday.. She's had it almost a year and still hasn't had one accident in it. This is just immaturity on the drivers part. He's lucky he's still alive after something like that.

I drive an S14 240SX ('98 240SX) with 836 WHP on an SR20DET engine. I drift it. I went from a '94 Civic Coupe EX with 367WHP. FWD. This was a subject of stupidty on the drivers part, and age has nothing to do with it. I'm 17! and I paid for the S14 myself with my US Army sign on bonus. That big of a jump on power was difficult to get use to that's why i decided to drift lol. Good day

Learn how to properly control a vehicle before you try to be Vin Diesel. Anyways, street racing is for idiots, take it and leave it on the track.

DataXUnknown said... »December 08, 2007

Man I can't believe how many people lie and post BS on this.

First of all, if your under 18 you can't purchase or insure your own car, therefore you did get help from your parents or someone of age.

Maybe you are paying the payments on the car, but who payed the down payment? Most likely your parents.

I hate people who get hooked up from their parents and show it off like they worked hard to get it. Gymnastics instructor, I mean come on...17 and a fully loaded G35? I hope you crash it just like this guy crashed his Z, doing something stupid.

Keep it on the track.

Anonymous said... »December 15, 2007

It has nothing to do with your age to buy a nice car. I am 19 and I bought a 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo with my own money. You just have to work very hard and just because you are young does not mean that your parents bought you a the nice car...

Anonymous said... »December 29, 2007

Its strange that a 350z/g35 would lose control like that. These vehicles come with the VDC ( vehicle dynamic control ). I have a g35 and i can floor it in a turn or haul a$$ on a straight road and try and lose control and itll just 180 degree at most. Now i have taken off the VDC and then you just unleash the power on this vehicle. I am not saying that you CANT lose control on the car even with the VDC, but it could have been a factor.... my .02

Great. dumbasses like him cause insurance rates for teens to be so crazy. if you dont know how to drive then dont race. its as simple as that

Anonymous said... »January 31, 2008

Um. Did someone really say they're 19 and bought a Gallardo with their own money? Doing some quick math.. if they worked from when they turned 16, and bought the car on their 19th birthday.. they're making roughly 60,000 a year. Without a college degree. And thats not taking into account any living expenses. Or actually anything else. Including taxes.

As a side note I hope the driver was ok, regardless of his actions.

Anonymous said... »February 26, 2008

oh yes :) lets all blame rear wheel drive without even thinking of the fact that in a drag race its alot easier to loose control in a powerful front wheel drive car cause of something called Front wheel torgue steering.

Anonymous said... »March 05, 2008

ok all the little kids on here need to do some homework. First off all of you kids have mommy and daddy buy you all cars, that really blows btw. You cant drive for shit. You add a coffee can on the back and think you can race a jet plane....most of you think you can win. The kid didnt know how to drive. Take the Skip Barber racing school and youll be fine. And too you little kids out there, YOUR CARS AINT SHIT! Come to chicago and race a real hard working person with a real race car!

Anonymous said... »March 12, 2008

C'mon now, he was 20 years-old. That's old enough to know what the hell you're doing, right? We all know that he made an immature choice for trying to race out in public where he could possible kill someone.

To all the 'bad asses' above 20 years old: Why do you keep bringing up that these teenagers just have their parents to help them out with paying. Although they could be stretching the truth a bit, it is possible for a young person to be able to go out and buy an expensive car with their own money. It's their labor, their money, and 'their' car. (even though they have their parents' signature on the contracts, but you get the point) I just find it rather troublesome how the adults are getting so angry at the fact that they're able to get a more expensive car than they already obtain at such a young age.

To the guy above me: 1.Age doesn't not measure skill.
2. Since your car "isn't shit," let's see what you drive :-)
3. You claim to be such a great hard-working person with a nice car - These kids supposedly worked hard too, but since they're younger than you and could possibly be telling a lie, how are we supposed to know that you're just pretending to be this person that you're not by lying as well? Nobody likes people who try to act hard with the keyboard.

Good day to you! :-)

i dont believe its his parents responsibility to take control of what car the kid drives. he sold his car to a faster one and is over 18, he didnt break the law.

i traded in my p.o.s. ford taurus for a 10,000 pund dodge diesel, and people say i have too much truck and power, but its all in matter of how you control. the kid obviously was unable to control the vehicle.

Im 17 and in my group of friends we have really fast cars and everybodys responsbie, but stuff happens.

we have m3's srt8 charger, m5, m6, M-Z4, 335's, is350's, escalades, and a4's g35's and 37s and even a modded 350. parents shouldent be resposible. ITS A CAR it was his responsibility, i know we all do it, but stuff happens. its a nissan dont race it against a beimer...if ur doing turns esp.

I'm 17 with an S13 240sx. However, my father drives the same kind of car and he drives it more "irresponsibly" than I do.
Age doesn't measure skill or ability to make decisions any more. There's plenty of 40 year olds who get drunk and kill themselves in their trucks, nobody says much to that.
There's a few people in my high school with things like Chargers and 350 Z's, but most of them got them from their daddy's money or selling drugs. I haven't got a doubt in their mind that they're going to kill themselves doing something stupid with it, and they're all older than me.

If he would have bought it with his own money he would have respected it a little more......mommy and daddy bought it for him. im now 20 and i own a $20000 mustang that i go to work every day to pay for i have my own house and all of that shit......just because a kid is 20 doesnt mean he doesnt know how to act dont blame it on his age im 20 now. i have 2 cars my mustang and a 4X4 for the winter and i havent wrecked either of them its all about being responsible and aparently he wasnt.

I previously owned a supercharged 350z nismo and nearly lost control like this guy. I hope he and his girlfriend will be fine. It has nothing to do with his parents.

Anonymous said... »November 20, 2008

Due to very fortunate circumstances, I might get a 370Z (obviously the new Z model) in my senior year- when I'm sixteen. If I do get a 370Z, I plan to try and take a few driving skills class to learn how to properly drive a powerful car. I will do my best to be a responsible driver no matter what car I own.

The person that wrecked this car is an irresponsible driver, and it is his fault; not the car's fault, not the fault of his parents. It is also not a reflection upon what kind of cars younger drivers own. Some young drivers can wreck the most practical and safest cars; some of them can handle Corvettes.

Anonymous said... »January 13, 2009

ok heres my .02, I am a 21 year old fairly mature responsible guy. First off you make it sound like a 350z is a porshe or something...newsflash there not that expensive. You can get a used one a few years old with low miles for around 16 grand.

I feel bad for this kid, and his girlfriend. Its amazing that they survived that, and they are very lucky. All of you people who are blasting him...come on you mean to tell me you never raced a car when you were young? Your full of it if you say no. You older people esp. when you grew up with the muscle car era and all them high horsepower real wheel drive cars. What makes you any better, or anyone to judge this kid? Should your parents be charged because you had a gto when you were young? You people need to get off your high horse and insted of blasting this kid who nearly lost his life think hes lucky to be alive, and im sure he will learn his lesson after that.

As for "being his parents fault"...its not at all. Hes 20 years old. Its not his parents fault at all. When i was 16 my mom wouldnt let me get the car i wanted (a z28 camaro) so i settled for a grand am. I got a year experience driving and then i bought my camaro. Ive had a camaro, and a turbo integra...and im not going to lie i did stupid things in them cars when i was younger, and im lucky that i didnt wreck. Im planning on buying another sports car now...i wont be out doing them stupid things anymore, i have grown up a lot since then and think about family, and life now.

On another note...these kids who are 16-20 and saying they have lambos and bugattis and such are full of it. They prob. have 92 escorts. Noone can afford a car like that at that age unless there parents buy them...and i agree when mommy and daddy buy there kids cars that cost more than most peoples houses that does make them spoiled little punks. I worked for my cars, they might not be the best but i busted my ass to get them.

Anonymous said... »January 20, 2009

How can anyone feel sorry for a dumb f**k like that? HE was driving to fast and couldn't handle it and HE got the consequences. And having someone else in the car... very responsible to put someone other's life in danger just because you have to compare your peepee's lenght with another dude.

I hope his girlfriend is smart enough to leave his sorry behind immediately.

Anonymous said... »January 30, 2009

Well now here is my .02.

I think all these "little kids" on here dont really think about how their parents indirectly pay for their cars. I am 20 and can only DREAM about truly being able to afford a 350z :( I live at home and am going to college, I got it all paid for with scholarships, so I have some money, but i'd rather move out first, get a better job with my degree and THEN worry about getting cars. I am lucky enough to have had my parents lend me a car for getting my scholarships and all that. I have to give it back when im done with school, but just the fact that I have a free ride while in school helps.

All these 16 year olds saying they bought the car by themselves, thats great, but do you feed yourself? cook for yourself? live under your OWN roof? pay electric, gas, and other bills? It is possible to get lucky and find a good job that young, or maybe you worked hard to get it. But lets face it, MOST 16 year olds CAN NOT truly afford it. Especially after you consider its practicality, resell value, insurance, parts, ect...

I am sorry, I am just venting because ALL 4 of my good buddies got cars given too them. all in the $15-$20,000 range. And it just pisses me off cause they tell me how they have all this "extra money" to buy other shit. Im sorry, but if i bought my son a car with the intentions to save him money while in school and he spent it on other pointless crap id say he has enough money for that, he can make his own car payments and insurance!

If my parents said they would buy me a car for $15,000, well duh i'd do it! I mean wouldnt you? I would milk the system FOR SURE! But I wouldnt want to tell anyone about how I got it hahaha.

Anonymous said... »January 30, 2009

Well I have two Porsches and I am only 18. Paid them off right when I bought them. Also my parents don't pay for my insurence. And I paid for the cars with my own money. But then again they are only 944's, cheap to buy expensive to maintain but loads of fun...

Anonymous said... »January 31, 2009

I think its a little funny how we're discussing our "real" cars on here... We should be learning from this story, which shows us not to be irresponsible with our driving. He is lucky not to be dead, which is pretty amazing considering the shape of the car...

But I can't say that I'm all high and mighty, and haven't done anything wrong. I'm 19 and I've had two cars a '96 Mercury Sable GS (Piece of shit, but hey it was a great car) and my '97 Supra. I worked hard for four years to get the Supra, and I have messed around on the streets in it. I used to do it in the Sable too, its got nothing to do with the car. It's all about the driver. I stopped doing it because i almost lost control and hit an oncoming car. Now I just go down to the track and do autocross once in a while. And just because you took a "driving class" doesn't give you any right to drive unsafe, you arent just messing with your own life, but also the people in the cars around you. Wouldn't want to hit a minivan full of kids now would you? Think about it...

Anonymous said... »March 16, 2009

Okay first of all everyone who says that you cant by a 350z or G35 by the time of 20 by yourself is completely stupid. I 've been working since freshman year in high school and im 19 and I just bought my 350z. I had a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon before that, which i bought and then sold too.
I also pay my own insurance. BY MYSELF. By the way did i mention i work at a local grocery store...not that good of a job.

And for those who question RWD vs FWD is wrong too. I went from a 91 accord(manuel) to a 2005 Z(manuel) and it was hard to get use to at first. I mean the on a rainy day you can spin out with out even trying to push the car hard.

This guy was lucky, he should of known better not to street race, you should leave that on the track.

And the Z is a very safe car if in an accident. The problem is that it is prone to getting itself into accidents that the problem. I mean a safe car is awesome but the point isnt to test it.

My 1st "car" was a Dodge Ram 1500 Daytona.. it had some nice torque but sad speed... when i got the Z & punched it was a JET compared to the truck I was use too.. This kid thought he was Superman with his gf in the passenger seat, 2 much power to little time

Beside everyone posting about how old they are and how "sick" there car is dont fucking worry about it. If a rich kid has a Viper all you old farts that drive a minivan shut up dont be jealous good for him i wish i had one. Age has nothing to do with driving skill. Your assuming he wasnt a capable driving just because hes got an extremely powerful car at such a young age. The whole front end of his car was ripped off obviously he was going fast enough that his spin was beyond the point of control. Do any of you race F1? HAHAHAHA LMAO At some of the comments.... Why should parents be responsible for a 20 yrs old actions..Thats pointless.. Last time i checked in U.S there are alot of 20 yrs old that lives by themselves.. for example a 20 yrs old man goes out and have unprotected sex and have a baby; should the parents be responsible for that? no.. exactly!

Age is Nothing but a number, some people are lucky enough to be successful from young age(actors, actresses, athletes, etc.) and some are trying hard to get to that level also...

BTW this shows that Tree's and pole's always win in any colissions. Just Dumb decision on his part...Am 20 i never and will never race with my Girlfriend/friends/family as the passengers...

ps: Also kinda know your car before pushing it...

for the person waiting until they are 25 to get a car... roflmao what does waiting those 6 years do for your driving? you must live in a very deprived house where your mom is overprotective.

I Live in scotland, im 24 and im about to pass my driving test in a few months, im trying to get a '95 civic, with full body kit insured, and its gonna cost me £1009 (approx $2020) for the lowest premium, fire and theft protection! for comprohensive im talking around £1980 - (approx $3890) which is unbelieveable, the car only costs around £600 and the body kit a further 400, thats around $2000, so u guys at only 16 years old are extremely privaliged to own such saught after cars as 350Z's and G35's at such young ages, if i could have my dream motor, a Toyota Supra RZ Twin Turbo, (With the 2JZ80 engine) tuned and modded to around the 450-500hp mark with a full GT300 bodykit (from the top secret 0-300kph optimum speed trial) im looking at 10,000 pounds (20,000 dollars approx) and a further £8000, (16000 dollars) to insure FOR 1 YEAR! i would love to move over the ocean to ur side of the world, but the work we have to put in and the money we recieve out is rather pathetic, so im going to be saving money for around 8 years to afford that, most people state-side would afford vyrons and hypercars such as lambo murchilargo LP670 - 4-SV's in that time, u think you have it tough, try living in the "United Kingdom (of big brother)" we will soon be paying to breathe over here...

Wow this is crazy I really hope both of them are OK but anyways I just turned 21 years this year and I'm thinking about purchasing a 350 first of I know I can control it because my uncle taught me how to race and all but age has nothing to do with it. Its all about control buddy
