Santa Fe’s and i30’s are ok but if you really want to standout and make a point you either do it with a sports coupe or a luxury car. Hyundai seems more than willing to do it both ways with the production version of the Genesis concept that’s scheduled to go into production in 2008 and the all-new Tiburon (or Coupe in Europe).

Judging from these cell-phone camera images, the latter seems to be in the last phase of testing’s, about a year before it goes for sale. Although official information is scarce for the time being, it’s evident that Hyundai’s designers took a really close look to the 2004 Detroit Show Concept, the HCD8 Sports Tourer when they penned the new Tiburon. We’ve heard rumours that the Hyundai will base the sports coupe on the rear-wheel drive platform of the Genesis sedan, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Koreans decided to continue using a front-wheel drive platform. The scoop images also give us a glimpse of the interior with a typical, for a modern Korean car, design and a view of the engine bay that seems to house an inline, 4cylinder engine. –Follow the jump for the image gallery

The fact that the engine is longitudedly mounted should be a big giveaway that this is infact going to be rear wheel drive!

That is clearly a turbo 4 and the way the engine is set up leads me to believe that its rwd or set up to use awd like the subarus either way i think ima get one

Defintley looks like a RWD setup, If the car ends up on a RWD platform i wouldn't be in the least surprised to see them dump the 2.7L 6 Cylinder platform and go in the direction of the 3.3L 6 already in use in some of their SUV's..........which would be super rad
