Judging from the Vectra prototypes (due in summer 2008) the we've seen, we’d say that if Opel decides to go ahead and build the spiritual successor of the ’90s Calibra Coupe (maybe with a new nameplate), the 2+2 coupe would retain the GTC’s design to the max. And if so, the OPC version fitted with the 2008 Saab 9-3’s 280Hp 2.8 V6 Turbo engine and AWD system could very well look like Autoexpress’s computer generated images. Heck, maybe even a Saturn version could be on its way if Opel (hopefully) says yes...
Could Opel give birth to a new incarnation of the Calibra Coupe based on the stunning GTC Concept? British magazine Autoexpress sure thinks so and so do we. Opel officials might have not confirmed a production version of the GTC shown at this year’s Geneva Show, but they sure as hell haven’t disconfirmed the rumours. A couple of months ago we interviewed a high-rank Opel designer who told us when we asked about a possible production version of the GTC that they we’re surprised with the positive feedback and there’s certainly an empty space in their range for a mid-size sports coupe. In other words, Opel’s definitely thinking about it. -Continued: Click “Read More…” below

If GM was smart (which is questionable...), they would run, not walk, but run to put this car into production and sell it in the U.S. as a Saturn or Saab. They would then finally have a car that people would actually WANT to buy, and not just because it would be offered at fire-sale deep discounts like almost everything else GM peddles. This car would be the first thing that would get me to buy a GM product in over 25 years.
I agree that a product like this would seriously upgrade GM's profile. However, the question is, how much would you be willing to pay for a car like this?
Are U serious???
This is the next absurdish design of GM, right next to Vectra C, Insignia and Astra H.These people are geting worse with every step after Vectra B and Astra G (they were the last nice for the eye cars from Opel).
What do we have here?A big and clumsy looking coupe, with neglectful front bumper. Some rudiments of styling that makes the car look like an auntie dressed with an night-goun.No thanks!
I bet the engines will be an ECO SHIT offshoots.Where is the old legendary C20XE?Oh yes - it convert in to X20XEV.What a collapse. No more legendary Opel engines. No more nice, clean and perfect 3D designs.Lets take a spit on the name of the old Calibra, as well as we did on Vectra.
Well done gentlemen from GM!Well done shitheads.
I am not much of an Opel Fan but I have to tell that if GM would sell those cars on the US Market, I would probably buy one og those.
On the other hand I am a big fan of the Opel Calibra 1991 and up versions.
So it would be a great idea if GM would sell these cars.
I think i looks very beauty, agressive and finalized.. Also, if calibra new will enter the market, there will be an OPC(VXR) version and it`ll be divine.=))
I already now know that as soon as it will appear (OPC) and I will have enough of means then I will take. 99 % of confidence.
