A well executed replica is a copy of a car that is practically indistinguishable from the original vehicle. Apparently that’s not the case with this replica of a mid 80’s Porsche 911 (dubbed VW Porrera...) that we discovered on Australian eBay. However, being the weirdos we are, that’s precisely why we love this particular replica; it’s so painstaking obvious that it’s based on a Volkswagen Beetle that in the end we really, really dig it! Pity its current owner didn’t throw in a Porsche boxer engine, now that would’ve made it perfect in our books. -Image gallery after the jump
As obvious conversions go, that one's pretty good - at least they made an effort. I once saw a BMW 2002 conversion of a Datsun 510. All they did was replace the grille, steering wheel and buckets, and epoxied a BMW badge on the hood. It actually fooled the owner's girlfriend.
