Talk about globalization; this guy took the pride (…) of British roadsters, a 1976 Triumph Spitfire and stuffed it with Japan’s iconic R31 Nissan Skyline RB20 powertrain. According to the fella that’s selling the pimped roadster on eBay, the Skyline’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is good for a whopping 425 Hp. Not bad if you consider that, the Spitfire weighs just about… 1,800 lbs or 815 kg. Of course, there’s no way of verifying the sellers claim on the engine’s output, but if true, this is one Triumph that can definitely spit some serious fire-power. -More pics after the jump
look at the size of those tires!! i wouldn't drive it even if i were payed for it! that's what happens when you let people with a lot of free time to spend and big engines

wow you killed that bonnit is ugly as hell, not that it is bad that you put a good stronge engine in it but god that has got to be the most ugly spit I have ever seen bar-nan dood you should not own a spitfire you should go get a jap car and leave the poor spit alone poor car!!!
Wow... I own this car, still, reserve not met on ebay. I cant believe it has made it all over the web as it has.
As far as power claims and traction issues. I can promise you it makes every bit of the 425rwhp claimed. The factory turbo and injection from the Skyline has all been upgraded to include a 70mm turbocharger and methanol injection. It remarkably hooks so well on the 13'' tires that it was having problems breaking halfshafts for a while. I was able to upgrade those to a lot better set, as well as some billet u-joint yokes and new joints. Now it is a reliable street monster.
I'll be the first to agree that the bonnett is crap. I cant stand it. Though without something up there and even with the motor dropped between the frame rails it STILL pops out of the hood about 3 inches. Something nicer is in the works for it though, dont worry.
To the author. If you have any questions or want some updates on recent work to the car feel free to shoot me an email at cmac_135@yahoo.com . Great article.
