2008 Nissan GT-R: Embargo Broken, Full Image Gallery Released

|
The floodgates are officially open: following an earlier leak today concerning Motortrend’s December issue front cover that featured the Nissan GT-R (see here), rival magazine Autoweek decided to retaliate by fully breaking the embargo –and you thought we bloggers were the only bad guys in cyber- town…

But, honestly, we couldn’t care less. All we're interested in is showing you the full image gallery of the most highly anticipated premier at next week’s 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Of course, as you’d expect from Carscoop, we did a little research of our own and we discovered a set of higher resolution images. In terms of specs, the 2008 GT-R is equipped with a twin-turbo V6 engine that takes the high-performance coupe from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.5 sec (quarter mile in 11.7 sec) and to a top speed of 192 mph – 308 km/h. Prices are expected to begin under $80,000. (PS: What do you have to say about the interior?) –Full image gallery after the jump

Well thats one hot looking car!! As for the interior, well im not crazy about the styling, however it does look like quite a high quality peice, especially for nissan. Im refering in particular to the leather, (or what passes for it), trip on top of the dashboard and the good looking silver material throughout the cockpit, and the excellent steering wheel. Im surprised that there is no manual transmission, and i wonder what type of transmission it is and how many ratios it has. I think the exterior looks great, and very modern something I can't say about many sports cars today. One thing i don't like is the weird blisers below the headlights ajacent to the grill. Overall its an awsome object of desire.

Are they going to make a US version of this? And an automatic? Certainly there will be a manual...I mean, please....Haha!

Yes and it will be the first GT-R to go on sale in the States (officially). Expect it some time in mid-2008. The car viewed here looks like it's fitted with a semi-automatic gearbox

I love the speakers.
Most unexpected part.

I think it looks exactly how it should inside. This is a driver's car , not a rider's car. The gauges, dash and steering wheel have just enough class without trying to be over the top in luxury or complex and useless technology (read i-drive). In my opinion, there are a lot of cars out there today that are trying to be too many things for too many people, and I think Nissan really avoided that mistake here. On the outside, I still think it looks too much like a 350Z and not enough like a GT-R though. Not a bad thing, per say; it still looks pretty hot.

I would hope they will make a manual version. More and more manufacturers are making semi-automatics. While I understand the concept behind this, there is NOTHING like grabbing the stick, hitting the clutch, and downshifting from 3rd or 4th gear and letting a horsepower monster unleash itself, all the while feeling the power in the seat of your pants. (Yes, I realize this is a run-on but I'm okay with doing so.)

Couldn't agree with you more Deuce. And especially if it's a gearbox like the ones found in the previous Honda Civic Type-R or the Mitsubishi EVO 9, there's no return to automatic (semi or not).

Well to me it looks a lot like the New Hyundai Tiburon, although I'm sure the performance is very different!!
