Have the German carmakers gone completely power-nuts? They sure have and nothing seems to be stopping them. New reports are stating that BMW has decided to pick up Audi’s (RS6) glove and introduce the 2009 M5 with a twin-turbocharged version of the current 507 Hp 5.0-liter V10 engine that could easily surpass the RS6’s 580Hp.MSN-Cars website supports that it may very well have proof of this through a series of spy pics featuring a faintly camouflaged BMW M5. And while one can’t be 100 percent sure of what we’re seeing in the spy pics, we can only think of one good reason other than that BMW is trying out its forthcoming DSG transmission, and that is a revised engine.

BMW has been forced to turn to turbo. The 2003 Audi RS6 came out for one year and crushed the M5. Just look up the Top Gear comparison. Audi's 2009 will kill the new M5. Audi always underestimates their power output. And their 0-60 times are always high. RS6 = New Super Sled King.
Hey man, are you ignorant or what? In 2004 there apeared M5 E60 and had dominated RS6 unit current model in 2008. Do you believe that after one year of appearance Audi RS6 they will rebuilt it again? They built in 2003 Audi RS6, new M5 appeared one year later and had upper hand in four years! Current situation is analogically: new RS6 appeared in 2008, new M5 will come in 2009 and will be more powerfull and faster than RS6, for sure. Next RS6 will probably appear in 2013, one year before appearance of next generation of M5. The only way for Audi to get better car than M5 is waiting for new generation of M5 and built RS6 at least one year later, but they can't wait because in the most of time M5 is better than RS6 and customers usually choose fisrt one. These cars are real close competitors and form that that BMW is waiting with new generation until appearance of ne RS6, they are able always to produce better car. You are writing about comaprition of 2008 RS6 and 2004 M5 and you don't take under consideration that new M5 is coming, that actually is one generation older car! There was no comparision of 2009 M5 and new RS6, because officially there is no 2009 M5 yet! Wait to 2009 and you will see. BMW's car are really better that from Audi. M3 E92 is only one sec slower than Audi R8 (8m:04sec) on Nurnbergring, even old M3 in CSL version (7:50) is faster than RS4 (8:09) and R8. This CSL with 343HP show that BMW can do car with amazing suspenstion and traction. By the way, until 2009 BMW produced engines without turbo that were always better than that from Audi with turbo and the same capacity. This is why BMW deserve for respect.

yeah can't wait for the new bmw 2009 i will buy that monster and kill the RS6..
i was looking at super cars exposed one night and they were showing the bmw m5 with mister tanner foust by the way that guy can drive . The power displayd on that car was an immediate turn on and i am very impressed with it .What was the turn off is that i cannot afford it atleast not now .But i am sure gonna be working on getting one some day.
