And you thought we’d heard the last piece of news regarding the 2008 Nissan GT-R with the release of the media kit –well, at least for the duration of the Tokyo Show. The boyz at Insideline are reporting that an unnamed Nissan source has confirmed that a lightweight, more powerful version of the high-performance GT-R Coupe called “V-Spec” will hit U.S. showrooms in mid-2009 (about a year after the N. American market launch of the GT-R).

We remind that the GT-R’s right-hand-drive-only predecessors, the Skyline GT-R R32, R33 & R34 models (R34 V-Spec II pictured on the right) were also offered in V-spec trim featuring sportier suspension settings, lower ground clearance, carbon-fibre diffusers and spoilers along with mechanical upgrades.

Actually the G35 is known as a "V35 Skyline" in Japan. The R35 is of course only going to be the GT-R in both US and Japan.
