While everybody is focusing on the all-new Lancer EVO X, Mitsubishi Europe today released official details on the 2008 Lancer Ralliart. Even though Mitsubishi doesn’t clarify in its press release whether the Ralliart will be based on the 4door Lancer or the upcoming 5door hatch version which is expected to be introduced at the Geneva Show, our sources state that in Europe, the Ralliart will be based on the 5door version while in the States, the 4door sedan. In both cases however, the Lancer Ralliart will be equipped with a detuned version the EVO X’s new 2.0 litre (Dual Valve VVT) Turbo Engine producing 240 PS coupled with Mitsubishi’s 6-speed Twin Clutch - SST transmission and with a full-time 4WD system with Active Yaw Control and Active Centre Differential. -Continued after the jump
In Europe and unless Mitsubishi decides else wise in terms of pricing, the Lancer Ralliart will compete against the Subaru Impreza WRX, VW Golf GTI, Opel Astra OPC, Honda Civic Type-R, Renault Megane RS etc.
According to Mitsubishi’s European arm, the Lancer Ralliart will feature among other things, an aluminium bonnet panel, Recaro front seats, sports steering wheel with paddle shift and a Ralliart radiator grille.

I wonder how much this is going to cost.
Do the math.
Lancer GTS < Lancer Raliart < Lancer EVO.
Starting 27K would be my guess
Dude.
Do the math.
Lancer GTS < Lancer Ralliart < Lancer EVO
I say starting $27K
Come on Mitsubishi! Don't pull a Ford, bring the dead sexy hatch to the US too! I swear I WILL buy one!
WTF! A DETUNED engine. But why?
uh...gee, let's see....if the engine wasn't detuned, it would be what class?...anyone, anyone, that's right, it would be an EVO...ding ding ding, we have a winner.
The only detail that I didnt see spearating from an EVO is the suspension calibration. Other than that, this is an EVO with 40 less HP. Given the tunability of these engines, it will be the performance bargain of the decade.
'Given the tunability of these engines'.. you mean the BRAND NEW ENGINE.. that NOBODY has ever modified? And an SST transmission that probably can't hold over 400hp? lol.. Remember the 4G63 is dead now.
Des is right, this is the replacement for the 4g, wtf are you talking about the "tunability"? Second, this isnt "an EVO with 40 less hp". I'm sure for the reduced price tag your not getting all the active electronics found in the new evo X.
"I'm sure for the reduced price tag your not getting all the active electronics found in the new evo X"
Good, I don't need a nanny to help me drive my car.
Brad is absolutely right about the active electronics. This is not a weaker EVO it's a more powerful GTS with an EVO body. It'll be nice for slightly rich kids looking to impress their friends...as long as they don't race anyone.
This car is a little more than a more powerful GTS. I purchased an 03 Evo back in late 2002, and I love my car. It has 80,000 miles now, and I'm looking to replace it. I paid 28 thousand back in 2002, and it was worth every penny for the 271 horsepower.
I can't afford the new price tag of the new Evo X, 34 grand (not counting options and tax) is crazy expensive, but the new Ralliart is right up my alley :) All wheel drive and 237 horsepower is a great deal for 25 thousand.
