Along with BMW Group’s design team, Subaru’s designers must be among the most criticized people in their field of work. And even though critics weren’t as near as harsh on the 2009 Forester (click HERE for details and images) as they were on the 2008 Impreza, we heard and read a few negative opinions. But like it or not, the third-generation Forester is here to stay.
However, we thought it would be interesting to show you a set of images featuring various design propositions for the 2009 Forester, including several clay prototypes. I think that with the new generation Impreza, Subaru design became completely rubbish. I really regret that kinda weird design of the B9 Tribeca...
I'm glad they ditched that prototype down at the bottom. I actually really like the production version of the Forester, and consider buying it over the CRV and RAV4 (not crazy about those designs). If the Forester drives as good as it looks, it would definitely have a spot in my driveway.
I like the very 1st one at the top - with abit of refining etc i think it could have been better than the production model which would have been remotly exciting designwise earlier this millenium. I dont want to be too critical as the new Forester will probably grow on me , however i prefer the previous model in terms of exterior design, somehow the new one doesn't look finished/refined.
The new one imo has a fussy front - although the rest seems nice although not groundbreaking in any way. The front on the model at the top of the page is quite nice and clean i think.
Got it! the grill on the production model is too busy - if sorted it could be a really nice exterior design.
I liked the bottom one, it seemed to have a nicer style about it... I have an 05 forester and it would have been a more fluid progression, the top one looks very VW Tigiuan but that would have been good too. Same they didnt do the more boxy back end.
