Saab To Unveil 9-1 Concept At 2008 London Show?

GM’s Swedish counterpart has been considering the possibility (and feasibility) of adding an entry-level premium model to compete against the BMW 1-Series, Audi A3, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the recent Volvo C30, for quite a while now. Even though Saab hasn’t announced something official, Brit magazine Autocar is supporting that the Swedish carmaker will take the wraps off a prototype version of the car dubbed “9-1” at next July’s London Motor Show. The Brits also suggest that the production version will go on sale during the second half of 2009. -Continued

We can’t verify the dates, but we’re more than sure that if Saab proceeds to the creation of the 9-1, it will be based on GM’s front-wheel-drive Delta platform (Opel / Saturn Astra). No one can say with certainty what the car will look like, but to be frank, we wouldn’t mind if Saab designers drew their inspiration from the 9X concept (pictures) which still looks as fresh as it did in 2001 when it made its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

    Hello,

    I kindly request where you got this information and that you provide the source of said information regarding the this 9-1.

    As of now no one has heard anything of this vehicle.

    Secondly, the 9-X concept car photos you show could be misleading as to currently no one knows what the 9-1 will look like so 9-X photos are a distraction and thus misleading.

    Please contact me for verification of this story so that we can set the record straight one way or another.

    In the meantime, I would suggest removing the 9-X photos.

    It deeply saddens me that you didn’t read the article AT ALL. It seems that you just flew by the title and the photos straight to the comment board. Apart form the link bellow, WE CLEARLY STATE: “Even though Saab hasn’t announced something official, Brit magazine Autocar is supporting…”

    As for the 9X pics, again WE CLEARLY STATE: “No one can say with certainty what the car will look like, but to be frank, we wouldn’t mind if Saab designers drew their inspiration from the 9X concept”.

    I’m not trying to be obnoxious here, but jeez…. read the article before you ask these kind of questions.
