I guess they're ashamed - LOL!
Think of the Mazda Millenia. The Millenia was a way for Mazda to test the waters of the luxury maket. This too is the way for Hyundai to create a luxury vehicle without having to do what the Japanese manufacturers had to do in the late eighties, (i.e Toyota=Lexus, Honda= Acura) Not only is this costly but why would you want to create an entirely different dealer network.
Michael you're spot on with the comparison to the Millenia.
Hyundai knows their image, however undeserved. I don't know how the dealers are going to cope with the Genesis, they simply are not oriented toward selling this kind of vehicle whatever its actual price point.
Of course, the way things are going this may become the "basis" for the 2010 Chrysler 300D.
for less weight?
I think this is just Hyundai's way of testing the market. They still have that perception of being cheaply made cars. If things go well I can see them making Genesis it's own brand. One step at a time.
Personally, I liked the Genesis badge, But I think I can understand their reasoning.
Here's the Korean commercial for the Genesis...

"Why Didn’t Hyundai Add Its Name or Logo On The Genesis’ Front-End?"
It's not the first time that they don't add any logo on the car front-end !
Hyundai XG ,Centennial(Equus) , Genesis are also haven't any logo on the front-end
may be that's Hyundai's decision on their luxury model in US market.
ashame? u better be ashame...u probly driving cheap and cripy ass car now, don't you?
losers like you always don't accept anything that makes them jealous...
what a loser
Kia does the same thing since 2003 for its Opirus/Amanti. Hopefully they restyled it in 2006 getting rid of its ugly fidhboned facia...but still without any logo on the front.
I think it wouldn't matter what they do with the front of this car, it will sell because it is great value for money. And it looks like a nice car too.
"ashame? u better be ashame...u probly driving cheap and cripy ass car now, don't you?

apparently you were a loser in spelling class...
It doesn't surprise me at all. In an image obsessed society, especially when it comes to premium cars, to associate the car with plain old Hyundai would be a quick turn-off to many no matter how good the car is. Same thing in the cruiser part of the motorcycle world. Most current Japanese cruisers minimize their names and some have even taken on different name identities. It's all about marketing. Too bad we are so fickle as consumers.
i guess they are just shallow that its a hyundai.
They should bring it over as the Equus Genesis, the beginning and cornerstone for their premium brand story in the US market. Equus is big in Korea as a premuim automobile.
The new Genesis is the epitomy of North Korea's finest JUNK made. I work on them....I know. The leather wrapped dash along with the Lexicon Stereo (already recalled for improper amp) are two examples of sure problems. The weal V6 wont pull a wet string out a cats butt either!
