Italian coachbuilder Zagato will introduce their latest creation based on the Bentley Continental GT Speed at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The Zagato GTZ features several distinct design elements like the concave roof, the rounded tail and a contrasting colour scheme that differentiates it from the standard Continental GT Speed.

Zagato left the Continental GT Speed’s engine and mechanicals untouched, with the 6.0-liter W12 engine producing 600bhp and 553lb ft of torque. For the time being the Zagato GTZ is just a show concept, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the Italian coachbuilder announced an ultra-limited run edition in the near future. –More pics after the jump

zagato has straight-up SOLD OUT. They crank out a new concept every 2 years and they all look unbelievably similar to one anohter. Each has a passing nod toward each co-brands' heritage, usually by either swelling the front grille or making it bigger, and then it drops a teardrop fastback double-humped roof onto a body with the same cross section as the original car, and then does as best it cane to make the rear angle resemble a lancia thesis. It was good looking up through the lamborghini raptor and up to the DB7 Zagato, and looked like maybe it was going in a fresh direction with the DB7 AR1 direction, but the last 3-4 on the vanquish, the 575M, and now this bentley... it's half-assed. It would be one thing if they were offering a range of vehicles and Zagato was offering a "zagato" look for a range of models based on separate models, kind of how a fisker tramonto and latigo are similar even though based on the dramatically dissimilar SL and 6-series, but Zagato isn't selling these cars... its just there to generate publicity and its a waste of everyone's time...

I continue to be amazed at Zagato's apparent lack of creativity. Every car they do gets the same treatment, which is rooted in ancient history at this point. Don't get me wrong--I love ancient history when it comes to cars--but I also love fresh ideas and the breaking of new ground. I think the Zagato crew should loosen up and do something fresh before they come to be known as dinosaurs.

It is sort of the same routine. Take a really fast car, make it even faster, whack a socking great grille on the front (Aston Martin DB7 Zagato) and enhance the bodywork so it looks like the engine is trying to break out. I wish they would show some creativity sometimes. Still looks fabulous. Should be for the thick end of £900,000.
