2009 Dodge Challenger SE 250Hp V6 Priced at Low $20,000s

|
Earlier today we gave you the first official pictures and details on the new V6-powered Challenger SE and the V8-powered Challenger R/T models that where unveiled at the NY Show today. During the presentation that followed, Chrysler LLC Vice Chairman and President, Jim Press revealed that the prices for Dodge’s retro-penned muscle car will start in the low $20,000’s.

“If you’re looking for a car priced in the low-20s that is both cool and affordable, our new Dodge Challenger SE is it,” Press said. “The new Dodge Challenger SE has many cool features such as the MyGIG infotainment system with available navigation, a built-in iPod interface, an available 276 watt Boston Acoustics sound system and UConnect with Bluetooth capability and voice recognition in English, French or Spanish,” Press continued.

“And the SE has a 250 horsepower, 3.5L V-6 , leaving the competitor’s base 210 horsepower in the dust. But the best news is outstanding mileage. Our highway target of 25 MPG makes the Challenger SE an economy car as well. So I gotta ask, why would anyone in the market for a car in the low-20s settle for anything else, when they could have all this,” he said. –More live pics from the NY Show after the jump

Yes Chrysler!, you really hit a home run with the new Challenger, and this coming from a guy who owned a 1973 Challenger as well as two Cuda's. Put me on the list as a buyer, but I will wait for the "dealer markup" to vanish in a few months, as did the PT cruiser when it first came out, now they can't give 'em away. But again, even the base SE challenger looks great and I will buy one asapir ( as soon as price is right).

Yes!! Sweet!!!!!! I also have been waiting for this new challenger. I as, Super Dave, have worked for you over a decade. Unfortunately had to sell my '71 Challenger conv't, but now I can start with the new version and let my kids grow up with a new Challenger and a new Charger R/T. I only could of dreamed of this when I was young. Now I can make it happen for my kids. Well also for the kid in me. THANKS CHRYSLER!!!!! Keep doing the right thing and we'll survive for years to come. America needs the jobs and loves your product. We have the passion, you just need to keep the quality products coming. Good thing--bye bye Diamler!!!!!!!!!

You guys seem to forget that if it wasn't for Daimler, there would be no CHALLENGER.

Don't tell me that you're all unaware of the fact the Challenger, 300C, Magnum etc are all based on the previous Mercedes E-Class Platform?????

I wanted to wait for chrysler to release the Challenger SE but couldn't wait to buy a car.Am kinda worried that it will be a v6 slug like the Magnum.
(why is it taking soooooo long, good thing i wasn't waiting on the new camaro)
I now plan on waiting till my new car is half paid off and trading it for a 2010/2011 challenger.Black on black R/T.

Nice to see so much in common with the concept on this one. One suggestion tho...With the rising cost of fuel, Why no manual option in the v6 version? A 4-speed is a sad transmission when all others are stepping up to even a 6-speed automatic. We know the platform han handle it...bump those MPG #s a little and offer a manual in the SE.

Wow!!!...I picked up my titanium SE at the local dealer a few days ago, and now have about 800 miles (and smiles) logged on! I owned a new burnt orange '70 conv. and always regretted letting her go. Thanks Mopar for letting my dream come true again!!!

25 miles highway is economy? Must be a heavy car. My PT Cruiser gets 28 at best and thats a four cylinder! Come on Chrysler,...you make nice looking cars, but improve the MPG!
