While we’re hoping that Autobild’s claims for a sportier version of the Mondeo Sedan in 2012 are based on actual facts, we’re crossing our fingers and praying to God that Ford’s anti-VW Passat CC proposal will have very little in common in terms of design with this artist’s rendering. The front-end of the car looks like a swollen fish that came out of an appointment with a bad dentist. Utterly ugly. Via: Jalopnik , Source: Autobild

I think it looks effing good. maybe stick a little more to the kinetic design with this one, but the artist has something there.
I am with Anon #1, this is effing nice! Now if Ford can get its stuff together and produce this with intent to sell it in the US. I think the Passat CC will sell only because it is a MBZ CLS ripp-off. Ford should strive to enter this niche before it is too late.
The front end of this rendering is pretty weak.. but the idea of converting Mondeo to an upscale 4-door coupe makes sense, especially considering the next Fusion and Mondeo are supposed to share platforms and components, meaning they could share the same assembly lines. Why not build them together on both continents, bringing the more bread-and-butter Fusion to Europe to sell beneath the newly upgraded Mondeo Coupe, and in turn offering some Mondeos as a nice upscale Ford (or even Mercury) in the US? Sounds like a perfect step in the right direction.
Bringing a design similar to this as the new fusion would be the smartest thing ford could do to compete in the U.S. for the "mid-size" sedan market. Especially with the release of the new 2011 Sonata with is 4 door "coupe" design.
