New Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport with 175Hp 2.2TDCi or 220Hp 2.5 Turbo

|
The Titanium X Sport is the new flagship model in the Ford Mondeo line-up. UK customers can choose between two powertrains, the existing 5-cylinder 220Hp 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol, or Ford’s new 175Hp 2.2-liter TDCi diesel, which is expected to account for the majority of sales.

With 35Hp more than its 2.0TDCi sister, the 2.2TDCi engine accelerates the Mondeo from standstill to 62mph (100 km/h) in 8.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 139 mph or 224 km/h with a combined economy figure of 38.0 US mpg or 6.2 lt /100km.

Available in 5-door hatchback and estate body styles, the Titanium X Sport models feature 18in alloys, twin chromed exhaust tailpipes and body-colored side skirts. The interior is also themed with sporty red stitching on the leather/alcantara seats, leather steering wheel and gear shift lever while the standard aluminium trim detailing is replaced with piano black inlays. -Continued

The Mondeo Titanium X Sport's standard equipment includes in-dash Sony six CD player, voice control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, front and rear park assist, dual-zone climate control and Ford Power start button. Additional upgrades over the standard Titanium include advanced Bluetooth connectivity, bi-xenon lights, alloy pedals and sports suspension.

Available to order now, the Mondeo Titanium X Sport is priced in the UK from £23,355 (5 door) and £26,605 (estate) on the road.

FORD would sell a bunch of these in the US if they can make it happen. Forget performance, 38mpg combined for this size car is better than most hybrids. And now is the time for FORD to do so, before Honda and Nissan step in. Plus VeeBubs 60mpg Jetta is guranteed to be sold out for years if it is priced right.

What a great looking car with great performance, that 2.2 TDci is a gem of an engine!

The front quarter view looks like a Mitsu Lancer! Still, looks better than most cars coming from Ford in a long time!

Why don't we get this car in the U.S.? Way better looking than the Fusion. And why do we get the limp-wristed N/A 4-cly gasoline engine which barely gives 30mpg with a manual trans instead of that sweet turbo diesel. Instead of the turbo I5 with a 6-speed stick we get a crappy V6 mated to a slush-box trans. C'mon Ford, no wonder sales are so weak.
