Have you tried to find a new Prius at a Toyota dealership lately? Well we did this past Sunday when we went car-scouting for a friend. We paid a visit to Toyota Westborough in Massachusetts and listen to this; not only is there a one month waiting period to get the compact hybrid (once you pay the $1,000 deposit) but the dealer didn’t even have a single Prius in the lot for us to see, let alone drive!

The same goes for most Toyota dealers across the U.S. as Prius inventories are limited by production capacity in Japan, which must be shared with Asia and Europe. Talking about the problem, John Hanson, a Toyota spokesman in Torrance, California, told Bloomberg, “This is a special vehicle, and as fuel prices keep rising, it gets more special. Rght now, U.S. customers can get a Prius. Next month or the month after that, it's tough to say”.

Wow! It's a hybrid car! Wow that means it is saving fuel automatically! Wow! Let's buy it!

I really don't know how you guys in the States are driving cares but we tested the Toyota Prius and the conclusion was: Toyota Prius is not saving mucho fuel!
Compared to a 1,6 Liter Mercedes A-Class it was quite the same consumption (5,8-6,4l for 100km)...but WOW! It's a hybrid, it's running on electricity! Well...only if you don't ride faster than 30km/h...because if you go faster than it's a normal (but heavy) gasoline car! And by the way, the battery of the Prius lasts only for about 5kms if you go only electro....But who cares...go out an buy one!

Good that even in the U.S. some people think about fuel consumption even though fuel prices are the double of the European ones. Also cars are alot cheaper, for example Toyota Prius seems to be $21,100 in U.S. and 29,950€ ($46,012) in Finland.
