Chevrolet Camaro Convertible: Official Pre-Production Images

|
After the release of some official “spy shots” of the pre-production version of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe a few months ago, GM has now released a pair of pictures depicting the 2011 Camaro Convertible, again in pre-production form. The Camaro Coupe is set to go on sale in North America during the first quarter of 2009 with the soft top Convertible following a year after.

GM’s people might disagree with us, but in our opinion they have overexposed the Camaro as we’ve been seeing or hearing something (official) about it every couple of months or so since it first broke cover at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2006. We’ve seen the Coupe Concept and a Convertible Concept, we’ve seen it in a movie (Transformers) and in pre-production form, we’ve seen spy pictures and even with a bodykit.

While it’s good to keep people on their feet about a new product, GM overdid it with the Camaro which doesn’t look as fresh and exciting as it did two years ago. What do you think?

This is a perfect example of why I dont buy domestic. I saw the concept, saw four thousand spy shots (some "Offical" or whatever) saw Transformers, now saw the "Pre-production" convertible, but still can't buy the f*cking car for a year.

Dear GM, Try this on for size, make a car, keep it secret until its ready for launch, pre-view it and launch it. Thats what "good" car companies do. You suck.

I saw one on the road the other day and it really didnt stand out.

The only reason I noticed it was for the boring tail lights.

I agree. GM has hyped up the release of the new Camaro and then disappointed again with the final version. Thanks GM.
I can't say I'm surprised.
The worst thing is it will probably be another poor quality rattling hunk of junk.

I am disappointed that they didn't go directly to a retracting hardtop, instead of the old and typical cloth top.

I am also disappointed of the apparent lack of any safety bars. There doesn't appear to be even retractable ones.
