*Update: Click here for 50 more images and here for pictures of the Camaro in various colors

Enough with the spy pics and the semi-official prototype shots; here are the first official images of the long-awaited Chevrolet Camaro production version. Although the car depicted here is wearing an eye-popping RS badge, the guys at Autoexpress' Cartribe blog support that the Camaro will come i
n LS, LT and SS trims.

The same source states that the 2010 Camaro will be available with a 296 Hp 3.6-liter V6 engine or a 416 Hp 6.2-liter V8, combined with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic transmission. The Camaro features an all-independent suspension setup and a StabiliTrak stability control system that promises to keep an eye on the coupe's buttocks. Braking power in the SS will be provided by 4-pot Brembo brakes while it is also reported that the coupe's 1,700 kg (3,750 lbs) weight will be split 52% up front and 48% at the rear. -Continued

Specs aside, we also get the first picture of the Camaro's interior which unlike the one found in the Challenger, bears no resemblances to other models of the Group. Hopefully, GM will drop the embargo and upload more pictures and information during the day.

How sad that the Malibu has a nicer interior than this Camaro. it is hideous, cheap looking, and does not look very ergonomic with all the dials so low on the console. It ruins what looked like a star in GM's line-up.

With all the spyshots since the prototype, there's no surprise...

You have obviously missed the point of the Camaro.

Outstanding work! It is rare to find a concept come to live in production form almost completely intact. I have never really liked American cars for obvious reasons, but GM has certainly won me over.

I hereby decalre I am a GM guy kinda guy, as far as American cars go anyway.

I can't wait to see one and if it's around for good, I'll be buying one in a year or so.

You all whine about the interior but I'm sure this is NOT the only color combo you can get, I'm sure there will be a few more lively colors you can pick from to brighten the inside up.

Black just hides the detail. Look at the car close up and tell me that this is not a cool car. This is the best looking american car to hit the road. Bold statement, yes, but when you FIND THE WEALTH OF OPTIONS GM IS GONNA PUT ON THIS THING. I'm sure you will find out how to fix your if's and's or but's. GM Design has been designing many accessories for this thing since the concept's debut. And don't forget about those aftermarket parts as well they will always be there. The Camaro will be awesome. Take your USELESS critique somewhere else, all you nitpicking goofs. GM has created a masterpiece you can't spit on. Deal with it. I don't see the Mustang or Challenger testing on the Nurburgring.

zmastr57. Here is another "USELESS" critique. I was going to buy a Camaro, now I'm not. Why? Because I don't do cheap interiors. I'm weird that way.

The interoir looks fine to me, it is by the way a "ponycar" and not a luxury car.

What draws my attention is the Seven Thousand RPM redline !

If the other end of that tach is connected to a V8 i'm sold.

The first poster is obviously an idiot or too young to know that the interior takes some cues from the Camaros of the late 60's with the "dials" (AKA gauges) embedded in the console just below the dash.
Nothing wrong with the interior or the exterior in my mind.

Go back to driving your Honda with the 6" tailpipe and your hat on backwards.

ya i disagree with the people who dont like the interior. i think that car is unreal. inside and out. im only 18 but im a big fan of the old muscle cars of the late 60's. so i tihnk this car, along with the new mustangs and challengers their bringing back are amazing.
