You can’t keep a secret these days; a member of the NASIOC forum has posted what seems to be a leaked memo from Subaru of America towards the company’s dealers revealing scorching details on the 2009 Subaru Impreza. The most important news is that the 2009 Impreza WRX gets a significant boost with the revised 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine delivering an estimated 265 Hp. That’s an additional 41 ponies over the 2008 Impreza WRX’s 224 Hp engine (pictured above). Furthermore, the paper says that the 2009 WRX will only be available with a manual transmission and that changes include an upgraded suspension, an STI-type front grille, a standard aero package, new gray color on the alloys and a new interior treatment with red stitching on the steering wheels and seats. -Continued
And while those who bought a 2008 Impreza WRX with a manual gearbox will probably be feeling something like a chick with last year’s hairdo, owners of the automatic version should feel better knowing that Subaru will replace the 2008 Impreza WRX Auto with the Impreza GT that retains the same 224 Hp 2.5-liter turbo boxer.
Other changes in the refreshed 2009 Impreza include the addition of the moonroof in the premium package and a few updates in the interior trim.

I was smart to wait and figured to hold out until word about a sunroof would come available.
I wonder what changed will occur for the ivory interior?
Will Xenon lights be an option? I can see that on the premium pack models as well as keyless ignition.
JDM models have these features already and the Lancers have xeon lights as an option, why not this?
I think the WRX is going to need more than just 265 ponies to get over its new 'I'm not taking that thing out unless it's dark' look. I know Subaru are trying to sell a lot more cars to a family market, but come on. Did they have to humiliate what used to be one of the best bang for buck cars on the market by going in this direction?

it offers a lot of unique features. I really like this car
and don't care what others have t say.
Subaru will build a RWD coupe for the thrill seekers, while this car is more for the mature at heart.
until i see something from subaru saying these things, right now it's just a fan's wet dream for the '09 WRX. wait for something offical before getting too excited folks.

God Damn mother f%@*!ing Subaru! I have my 08 WRX, just got my SPT Exhaust and my AEM cold air intake was going to purchase a Cobb tuner and start beefing this thing up the Subaru SLAPS me in the face by adding more Horsepower to the09's! Damn Jap bastards!
