Horrific Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Crash in Qatar

|
According to reports, this hair-raising accident happened in Qatar sometime during the morning of July 15th when the 22-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren allegedly lost control of the vehicle. We don’t know for sure if the driver actually made it out alive or any other details for that matter, but as you can see in the pictures after the jump, the SLR was literally torn into pieces. Shocking to say the least. -Continued

OMFG. I have never seen a Mercedes destroyed like that.....ever. I don't thing anything made it out of there in tact, let alone the driver. Without more clues, one can only guess how this happened. Although one thing is clear, he was going really really fast.......

I read that the camel he hit survived.

I'm not a fan of MB, but I must say this can be used as a great safety AD for MB.
Yes it looks torn to peaces, but in a high speed crash the last thing you should care is how the car looks after impact, the important thing is, even with everything completely destroyed the passenger space seems to be untouched, so the passengers had a good chance to survive, if they could take the impact force of course. The car performed fantastic from passive safety point of view.

the fact that the passenger cell survive intact shows how strong it is....buti don't think the driver survived

most the crazy video in internet are from Middle East, with a newly or an exotic car.

guess it will be normal for an exotic to wrecked there.

Agreed with above! The passenger comparment is fairly solid, so if the guys didnt break their necks from whiplash or anything, Id say theres a good chance they came out alive.

Look at the resemblance between this wreck, and that of a Formula 1 car... notice how in both the extremities rip off, yet the passenger cell stays intact! Engineering at its finest!

I still cant believe it. OMFG.

Does it hit by rocket? It looks unbelievable a strong car can be like this by accident!

yet another example that having a ****load of money doesnt make you a great driver.

couple of qatari and saudi kids here in portland have pretty special cars: a 911 turbo and a 700-hp mustang, they dont seem to be any older than 25. if you know their culture, showing off is good. to me its scary.

Speed doesn't kill, Stupidity does

The passenger compartment held but if you look closer the steering wheel has been pushed into it. This is a common cause of fatality in car accidents. It is not like a F1 crash on a circuit designed for safety. No one could have survived that. Poor kid.
