Chevrolet CruzeGeneral Motors revealed the new Chevrolet Cruze sedan to the members of the press on Thursday, August 22, at the company’s Lordstown plant in Ohio which will build the North American market versions of the compact sedan. “One of the key reasons for the success of the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 is the Lordstown workforce and the strong partnerships with the UAW and local and state officials,” said GM’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner. “Based on the quality of work and these strong partnerships, we are pleased to announce our plans to invest another $500 million in the Chevy Cruze product program in the U.S., including more than $350 million in Lordstown.” -Continued

The new Cruze will make it public its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in a few weeks and will be sold globally offering Chevy a fresh proposal to compete against the Toyota Corolla Sedan, Honda Civic Sedan, Ford Focus Sedan and other contenders in the compact sedan segment. In Europe the Cruze will go on sale in March 2009 and it will be offered with 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter gasoline engines as well as with a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel unit.

    Just look at those Good O' Boys a shaken hands and backslappin' one another. Ahhhhh...it brings back memories of the sixties. No diversity there whatsoever. Hey, maybe they'll all pack their asses into one of them there cars, and go for a Cruze.

    I will still wish they bring the diesel to America, but will not hold my breath.
