Like many other automakers, VW also presented a special edition model at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance classic car show (August 15-17, 2008). Based on the Passat CC with the 280 HP 3.6-liter V6 matted to a 6-speed DSG double-clutch transmission, the Gold Coast edition boasts additional luxury and performance extras like the unique tri-coat paint featuring a mix of gold, brown and silver tones, a ground effects package with front and rear spoilers, new 19-inch alloy wheels and four leather sports seats with bronze piping and matching accents on the dash and door trim. Nice car. I am sure iw till be a success in the USA.
The interior is a disappointment. I don't think it is a great idea of Volkswagen to use the Passat name on this car considering how many problems and recalls there are on the previous Passats. I speak from personal experience and would not ever consider buying another VW.
For its category and price range it will clean house on anything else on its playing field AND will cut into some categories above it. The design could easily have the Mercedes logo on it versus the VW emblem as it is that good. With Porsche at the reins of VW now this car has nowhere else to go but up!
vw the best
Frankly speaking,it's a "VW-made Buick Riviera".
Namely, her body is quite massive and voluptuous, though somewhat over-decorative with several unnecessary press lines.
Certainly she has respectable backspace for legs, while headspace is barely tolerable. Such packaging is scarcely rational and not up to VW's tradition,in my opinion.
Her concept is something off the mark, and her suspension tuning is less nimble than her sedan/wagon siblings, the Passat Sedan/Variant.
Such luxury-oriented barge is not on VW's way,so Passat Sedan is much cleverer choice than the Passat CC.
I do miss the 3.6-litres option of Passat Sedan used to exist, the unit is a regular gem! If VW people want to transfer those who want 3.6-litres Passat from rationally-packaged sedan to emotionally-styled yet somewhat skimpy CC,that's rather nonsense in my view!
