Hyundai i20 2009After a teaser announcement in early September, Hyundai decided to release a new set of images and further details on its new i20 supermini. At the Paris Show we’ll only see a five-door model but according to Hyundai, a sportier three-door i20 version will debut in January 2009. Based on an all-new platfortm with a 2,525mm wheelbase, the i20 is lower, longer and wider than the Getz it replaces. Designed and developed in Europe, the i20’s exterior styling is clearly inspired from the existing i30. -Continued

Hyundai i20 2009Hyundai has yet to release pictures of the five-seater interior but the Korean automaker said that the i20 will offer numerous ‘smart’ storage spaces along with a 40:60 split flat-folding rear bench with a low lip for easy loading into the 295-litre luggage compartment.

The i20 will debut with a range of seven petrol and diesel engines. The petrol line-up comprises of the 78PS 1.2-liter, 100PS 1.4-liter and 126PS 1.6-liter units all available with five-speed manual transmissions, with the option of four-speed automatic gearboxes on the 1.4 and 1.6 models. As for the turbo diesel powerplants, the i20 will be offered with a 1.4-liter unit available in two specifications – 75PS and 90PS – while the flagship 1.6-liter motor is available in 115PS and 128PS trim. Both 1.4 models come with five-speed manual transmissions, while the flagship 1.6 is mated to a six-gear manual drivetrain.

When the i20 goes on sale in Europe later this year, it will be offered in four trim levels – Classic, Comfort, Style and Premium. All trim levels feature six-airbags, ABS, climate control, a four-speaker radio, CD and MP3 audio system, a multi-function steering wheel, tire pressure monitoring system, height-adjustable driver seat, keyless entry and electrically operated windows and side mirrors as standard.Hyundai i20 2009

    More like the Suzuki Swift.
The rear tail lights and bulging hood/bonnet are trademark of the swift. Even the C pillar is very swift-like. Not very impressed with Hyundai's effort. The Swift of course is a great car.

I thought Hyundai grew out of their copycat years! This car is just an Opel Corsa clone! Shame on them.

For god's sake the rear doors are identical to those of the corsa. Cars like this (and all chinese cars) just make me wanna throw up

Well, the car was designed in Germany. Maybe that's the reason for similarities with Corsa.

there's similarities with the corsa, and so? corsa, 207 peugeot and renault clio are not very differents, and nobody told shame on them, so why only on hyundai?

if hyundai and chinese cars are identical for you, wake up, hyundai is n°5 in the world!!!

You Anti-Hyundai Racists need to stop, and grow up. Visit a Hyundai dealership, check out their cars, get a test drve just for kicks. On some models like the Accent and the Elantra, the Toyota and Nissan competition (at least in the US) seems more crude and less refined under the hood.

Please Lord, I hope you allow Hyundai to bring this to America as an Accent with a Hybrid option. Its not like you dont sell Accent Hybrids overseas allready. Then again, Hyundai sells new models overseas first before sending them to the US to ensure only the highest quality for American consumers. So, I expect this car to be here 2010-2011.
