The latest in a long line of leaks today comes to us from Spain with the revelation of the first photos of the SEAT Exeo (pronounced ex-ay-o) or shall we say, SEAT’s version of the previous generation Audi A4. The new Exeo that was apparently designed during a short business lunch break somewhere in the central offices of the VW Group, is based on the A4 with the only visible styling differences being the new nose, tail and mirrors. Same goes for the interior but to be completely fair, SEAT’s design team received the okay from high ranking VW officers to enhance the cabin with new trim options and seat materials. -Continued

Details of specifications and powerplant options haven’t been disclosed yet, but expect to see a mix of engines from the previous Audi A4 and VW Group’s current line-up including the 2.0 TFSI gasoline and 2.0 TDi diesel units. SEAT’s new Ford Mondeo and used E46 BMW 3-Series rival will go on sale in Europe in early 2009 first in sedan and then in station-wagon body-styles.

SEAT's swoopy face does not translate well into Audi's slab-sided panels and straight, muscular belt line. should have given it more thought, these lazy spaniards.

A few years ago Daewoo took Opel Kadett, gave it new front and rear end and put on sale as Daewoo Nexia. And that was forgivable only because Daewoo was a beginner in car manufacturing business. Now Seat did exactly the same with an old Audi A4. WTF?!

The nose & front fenders seem a little forced but not bad.

I think it’s brilliant. Keep the costs low as possible - use a recycled A4 – a decent car, add an inoffensive new nose and tail – just what you need for the class, then chuck a couple of tweaks to the cabin – nice solid VAG build quality and Bob’s your uncle. It should mean a really reliable, handsome saloon for very reasonable price. Excellent.

they should have changed the doorhandles...that would've made it look less obviously like an audi a4. overall, it's a respectable effort...the previous-gen a4 was a very good car, so i'm glad it's been reincarnated.

what a waste - why not wait till they had the money to develop a proper car, design just doesnt look right. come on Seat.
