Ford Fiesta Sedan 2009These are the first official pictures of the all-new Ford Fiesta sedan that made its global premiere today at China's Guangzhou Auto Show. The four-door Fiesta sedan is essentially the production version of the Verve Concept that was introduced at the same show in 2007 and according to Ford, it will be built at the company's new manufacturing facility in Nanjing with sales in China scheduled to begin in early 2009. FoMoCo said that additional variations of the Fiesta sedan will be available across Asia and North America starting from 2010 with production coming from the company's plants in Thailand and Mexico respectively. The four-sedan will not be sold in Europe.

Ford Fiesta Sedan 2009Ford would like us to believe that the Fiesta Sedan retains the 'emotional appeal' of its five-door sibling and that it features a "new interpretation of the firm's kinetic design language". We find it a bit hard to agree on either - unless emotional means disturbing and kinetic translates to a shape that was conceived by inserting a large vacuum-cleaner behind a Fiesta hatch.

"We set out to design a truly exciting, desirable small car that exceeds all expectations. Today, we are keeping our promise that was made with the Verve Concept notchback last year," said Chelsia Lau, chief designer of China/ASEAN Programs, Ford Motor Company.

Ford Fiesta Sedan 2009"Launching the all-new Fiesta sedan to the world in China signals the importance of China and the Asian region in Ford's global strategy, " said John Parker, executive vice president, Asia Pacific and Africa, Ford Motor Company. "This is a sophisticated small car. Design combines with advanced technology to deliver very high levels of refinement, safety and class-leading fuel efficiency. This new Fiesta proves Ford's leadership in small car design and development. "

Ford has yet to reveal any technical details on the Fiesta sedan, but expect to see the same powertrain options as with the hatchback version.

There was a time when Carscoop gave good, relatively unbiased coverage of cars and opinions mentioned were at least rather fair and balanced. Please leave the hyperbolic imagery/sarcasm to tabloid car sites and let readers comment. In any case, the shape looks quite decent, retaining the family look of Ford and holds its own against other superminis-converted-into-sedans.

With the way things are going, soon enough China will own GM and Ford and build better cars.

this car looks out of shape and out of proportions.
    beauty is all about proportions.
is this a chery fiesta or geely fiesta?

The sedan is nice looking but the hatches are just out'friggin'standing. Even the 5 door hatch is great looking.

To be fair it looks pretty good, easily the best in class by a long way. A bit like a shrunken Mondeo. Selling this in the UK wouldnt work because its not what buyers want, but in a country which likes small saloons, it would do very well at the right price. Ford are comming out with some great cars these days.

Neither, cos the Fiesta sedan's much better looking than anything that chery or geely ever made. Oh, in a couple of months, rest assured we'll see the pilfered moulds of the Fiesta end up in barely-altered form used in various chery and geely models though. Then the chery/geely apologists/marketing department shills will say it was merely "inspired" and not blatantly copied.

On another note, this would not sell in the UK or western Europe but this bodyshape would work wonders in Asia.

I have seen and read about the Fiesta 2door hatch Zetec S in the euro publications and they rave about it. To Ford --you have the better Focus ( next version which we still dont get in the USA . In Europr for 1+ yrs), The new KA (seen in Quantum of Soalce), the Fiesta, and the Mondeo (seen in Casino Royale). WHY ARE YOU CRYING THE BLUES TO CONGRESS.?? JUST BRING THESE OVER ASAP/NOW !!! Problem solved - hire me. K

Why does ford Make cars in Europe but seem to be incapable of making cars properly in America. The sync system was a nice touch but it ends there. The focus that you have been spoon feeding us recently is crap. ONLY 1 CHOICE OF ENGINE, COMEON! We want the sporty focus that look as nice as that in Europe. Like Kevin said earlier, if they would only bring the European cars over here sooner then they wouldn't be in this mess. As far as I can see, European fords are some of the best cars around. They are better than Toyota's and can compete with Honda.
