It's only been a year since Renault lifted the veil off the third generation Laguna hatchback but according to a report from France's Auto Plus car magazine, the mid-size sedan and its estate sibling will soon receive a very mild makeover. Changes include a new front bumper, the addition of LED daytime running lights, a restyled rear bumper and newly shaped tail lamps. While there's nothing really wrong with the car itself, the latest Renault Laguna has garnered a lukewarm reception from consumers and the press alike due to its yawning styling, especially in what concerns the 5door liftback variant.
But if Renault really wants to turn the tables, then the French automaker will definitely have to make a lot more changes to the Laguna than this subtle, and in our opinion, rather meaningless facelift.

A very good car, but a bad image, and we don't know exactely why ! Very strange ...
I must say, this lifted version looks much better than the current one. I like it. As a Laguna II owner, I think I might trade in my old car for this one :P
@frederic.e
Maybe cos the current version looks really dorky with those guppy-eyed, sinking headlamps? The rear lamps still look awkward, like the old model Citroen C5. Ironic that the Citroen C5 looks more like a nicely designed Renault and the Renault looks like the old badly designed C5.
This is not a lifted version. As mentioned on the reg plate of the car (bottom right corner), this is a 2004 moke up, probably used to build the current version... Not comment of the accuracy of Autoplus magazine. What a pity !
Renaulk need to get the finger out in this segment, no flair at all. With the likes of the New Mazda 6 (Mazda for crikes sake!) the new Mondeo, and all the other usual suspects A4, BMW 3 Series they should scrap this. Anyone can see the headlights are all wrong and the back of the car is just terrible. Why don't they ask the New Megane design team to give them a hand? As a Renault fan I am so disappointed.
It's good to see a manufacturer responding quickly to constructive critisism (and of course poor sales.) Unfortunatley I doubt this will make any real difference. The Laguna still has a terrible reputation due to the faults on the previous model and consumers have long memories. Also the fundamental looks are, as someone said, dorky and akward. I think Renault would be better concentrating on a Qashquai x-over model like Citroen have.
Currently,the Laguna sedan series is topped by a 2.0-litres/205bhp turbo motor,but I want the masterpiece Nissan 3.5-litres V6 motor will be offered in 4-door guise,as well as 3.0 diesel turbo guise.
If such versions were released,they'll become worthy,formidable rivals for VW Passat 3.2 and Mercedes C320CDI! The V6-powered Renault Laguna Coupe is an excellent guise,so its 4-door version seems quite ideal for me.
