Despite the fact that we're still a few months away from the market launch of the all-new Ford Focus RS (click here for more info and 22 high-res photos) that made its world premiere at the London Motor Show this past July, Ford's Austrian arm has released plenty of new and important details for the sport hatchback including preliminary pricing and revised performance figures.
When Ford introduced the vehicle in London, the company said that the Focus RS with its 300HP 2.5-liter turbocharged inline 5-cylinder engine would sprint from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in under 6.0 sec and on to a top speed of 260 km/h (162mph) or more. According to the firm's latest tests, the Focus RS accelerates from standstill to 100km/h in 5.9 sec and achieves a maximum speed of 263 km/h or 164mph.
The fastest ever European Ford production car will be available in Austria from summer 2009 priced from €39,000 or $50,800 with the current exchange rates. Comparatively, the 225HP Focus ST which forms the base for the RS, starts from €29,980 in Austria.
The new Focus RS will be offered with three different exterior colors: "Performance Green", "Indianapolis Blue" and "Frost White" each with the choice of blue or green color matched interior. Alternatively, a full black leather option will be available for all three exterior colors.

it's great car, what a pity is that the Ford Focus RS not will be selled in brazil so soon
No ofence , it's a good car ( i guess), but why would you buy a focus for 40k ?
Vovlo c30 anyone?? Talk about re-badging a car!
Hi retard, have you ever driven a Focus ST before. Having the same 2.5 T5 engine does not mean that drives the same. It does not even look the same. So before you start spouting trash about it being a rebadged c30, go test out a Focus ST and compare it to a C30 first.
didnt the focus st come out before the c30?
Okay - honestly, this is quite terrible. It's a Ford Focus - this equates to garbage to most people. To the person that says "go drive one" - I have driven one (Focus ST), and they are NOTHING to brag about. For $50,000 US - you can get a Corvette, or better yet a used e46 M3 and crush this thing in every performance category known to man - AND you would be driving a "proper" car, not a Ford Focus (fwd crap).
The thing that makes NO sense is the fact that the performance figures are crap. I understand that traction may be an issue - but what does this thing weigh in at, 5000 lbs (3007 is what wikipedia claims)? I mean, with 300 HP - and as light as this car SHOULD be, I would be expecting sub 5 second 0-100 km/h times. What's with the crap 6s time? And the wing???
Don't even get me started on this - it's ridiculous looking (and what is there to gain? - high speed stability? - it's a FOCUS).
^^Thanks, you are speaking the truth. It's an over priced volvo with a new shell and performance mods (OH WOW)!

Ignoramus, why don't you relook the hogwash you are spilling before you start the vitriol on the Focus. First, let's just make sure you, an American probably, has actually driven the European Focus ST. It is by most accounts, a fine handling road hot hatch for its price. Certainly not the fastest or wildest, but still a fine handling one as per most reputable European car magazines.
Second, stop looking at US$50,000 and start comparing it to your M3s and Corvettes. That is just plain stupidity. This car will NEVER be sold in the US, and even if it were, it would NOT be $50,000, but at a price commensurate with other rivals in its class. A Jaguar XF Supercharged costs, what US$69,000 but 55,000 POUNDS in the UK, so do you start comparing the Jaguar XF to Bentley Arnages and Maserati Quattroportes in the US in the same 55,000 pound price range in the US and say For $110,000 this Jaguar falls short and I could get these so much better cars. Sure, the Corvettes and M3s are better than this Focus, simply because they cost so much more, assuming this RS is sold in the US.
Third, on your point about the 0-60 times, they only tell half the story, 5.9s may be "slow" in your book but what about the drive, the handling and the chassis balance? The Mk1 RS was highly regarded, so before you embarrass yourself further with more uneducated comments, wait for the reviews to start streaming in at its launch before commenting. Oh better still, book the next flight to Europe and actually try the right car this time, maybe?
(Apologies if you did drive the Euro Focus Mk II ST, I stand corrected on that point alone)
The anonymous who keeps going on about it being a rebadged Volvo has got to have repeated facts drummed into him before he actually comprehends.
The ST only uses the same T5 engine, just as many cars do - ask VW and Audi. But the car can be tuned for different handling characteristics and feel.
Comparisons about price are moot because the RS will not be sold in the US and even if it were, prices would not be at $50,800 but much less. Cars in the US are much cheaper, direct conversions, as carscoop does rather unhelpfully here, are unrealistic.
The ST was launched in 2005 while the C30 was launched in 2006.
The guy who said he has driven the Focus ST and said it is NOTHING to brag about probably "drove" it while researching on the the Focus' weight on wikipedia. Comparing the car to Corvettes and M3s, that's a little rich innit. Totally different classes of cars, comparing them is sheer stupidity.

From the way you write, I can only surmise that you are pre-pubescent American with no common sense. Comparing the Focus RS to M3s and Corvettes when they are of different categories? That's a joke of monumental proportions.
With 50k. i would get better performance with the new impreza wrx sti 2.5 with 35k or the all new Evo X with 33k ,btw they com with 300hp rdy .
And if you like pump'em with a another turbocharger(so you'll have a twin-turbo) with a nitro's (and its needed parts).
and you'd have still have more money .
well now you'll have an equal car price but better specs if you want to pay same amount you'll even get to 4.somthing seconds in 100km/62ml .
Now imagine what you can get with 50K as stock you can get a variety of 6 or even 8 cylinder !!! but 50k for ford with is known for its weak platforms i wouldnt even compare it with the impreza or evo , i might even get a civic type-R ;)
Lol this thread cracks me up with people saying I rather get an Evo X for $33k. Guess what, this isn't gonna be sold in the US at all, much less at $50k! The funniest thing is that some fools use the price tag to take a dig at the RS. It's probably the same thickheaded anonymous banging on about the M3 and Corvette being better than the RS.
So who's going to spend $50,000 on such an ugly car like this when you can spend $30,000 on a 2010 camaro with a 422 hp v8 that would most likely smoke the living $^#@ out of this.
Maybe car enthusiasts in Europe? Cos it isn't going to be sold in the US for $50,000 you retard.
Looking at the number of other cars this Focus has been compared to amuses me no end - 422hp 2010 camaros, e46 M3s, Corvettes..Guess what this has to be compared to Renault F1 R27, Audi S3s, VW GTi-R and other hot hatches in its European price range. Let's see how it all turns out when it is launched. Seems like some (the same) uninformed and intellectually challenged teenage Ford hater from America-land is running loose here firing off his loose cannon.

Looks like you're living in your own fantasy world. Comparing a camaro with a Focus RS, 2 totally different cars and deciding the first one is gonna be beaten by the second one. Well duh! They aren't meant to be compared in the first place.
This is probably going to be sold at £25,000 in the UK. Can't wait for it, what an incredible car it will likely turn out to be as a successor to the Mk I RS.
Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous, Anonymous and Anonymous:
You are all idiots.
The only two (2) people that are of any help/that have any intelligence here are Anonymous and Anonymous...
Ford sucks, get over it. I am guessing your Anonymous Dad bought your Focus, and for this reason you are so ferocious in your attacks against Anonymous and Anonymous (because your Anonymous Dad is always right, correct?).
As far as pre-pubescent goes, let's learn how to spell it (or at least use the correct grammar). Once people start getting into saying things like "You are a little kid" OR "You only have .04 ml/kg of testosterone running through your veins", we all know that YOU are the little kid (you are backing up a car targeted at teenagers).
There is NO SUCH THING as an adult that likes the Ford Focus. I am an adult, I have taken a jet over to the UK and driven "your car", and I was NOT IMPRESSED. I am not making this up, no reason to. This all spawned from the conversion rate - I really thought Ford was trying to sell this car for 50k US. All of that, to me, is/was a complete joke (or a joke of monumental proportions as Anonymous nerd would say).
Did you know you can get a used e46 M3 (MUCH better car with a warranty) for less than the price of this car NEW? Same goes with the Corvette (minus the warranty)... Seems like Anonymous and Anonymous was right all along.
--Anonymous.
^^You continue to prove your point.
I can go out and buy the new hyundai genesis coupe with 300hp rwd and still spend less on it than this thing. Sad part is that the Korean car will probably be more reliable!
