2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h HybridIn case you weren't sure, this is in fact the brand-new, third-generation Lexus RX that was revealed to the world for the first time at the 2008 LA Auto Show. Like its predecessor, the new RX will be offered in two flavors, the gasoline only RX350 and the gasoline-hybrid RX450h. The exterior of the all-new RX features a sort-of blink-and-you'll-miss-it bland evolutionary styling that combines the silhouette of the current model with a few modern knickknacks from Lexus design cupboard like sculpted lower part of the doors and 'L-Finesse' molding around the side windows.

Furthermore, the RX 450h hybrid receive its own unique styling features, including an different grille, hybrid badging with blue-trimmed Lexus logos, a restyled front bumper, a special 19-inch optional wheel design, blue-tinted headlamps and taillamps, and optional LED headlamps.

2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h HybridInside, the 2010 RX gets a more modern dashboard full of swoops and curves and what Lexus calls, a "dual-zone cockpit design" with two different display systems. Despite the various rumors for a seven-seat version, the RX will be offered excursively as a five-seater. However, the larger overall exterior dimensions of the luxury crossover promise to better passenger space compared to the current RX.

At the heart of the new RX models beat two improved V6 powertrains. The range-topping RX 450h features an enhanced version of the company's Lexus Hybrid Drive system with a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that crank out a combined output of 295HP, 27 more horsepower than the current generation RX hybrid. Lexus also added two new systems that improve the RX450h's efficiency. The first is an exhaust-heat recovery system that reduces engine warm-up time allowing it to stop earlier, more often, and for longer periods while the second is a cooled exhaust-gas recirculation system that reduces engine pumping losses, also helping to improve economy.

2010 Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h HybridThe entry-level 2010 RX 350 is powered by the same powerplant as the RX450h, sans the hybrid system. In this case, the 3.5-liter V6 engine produces an output of 275HP and is mated to an electrically controlled, sequential-shift six-speed transmission.

According to Lexus, the 2010 RX 350 will go on sale in the U.S. next February, while the 2010 RX 450h will reach dealerships nationwide in the spring. European will have to wait until next summer for both variants of the new RX.

I'm pretty sure people will now start bragging about how good looking and beautiful this car is...just because it's not American.
In fact, this is one of the ugliest facelifts I've seen. Every angle, inside and out, is awkward and It's beginning to look more like a high wagon. All I could say is... meh.

It's awkward because Lexus couldn't even get Fioravanti to design it for them... They had to make-up a design they thought would be like something he could produce. The only thing they might've gotten right were the front fascia and maybe the shape of the side windows. Other than that, the center stack is a disappointing departure from their current trend, and the rear tail lamps just scream Mazda. Leave it to Lexus to screw things up on one of their three bread and butter models.

That is an ugly car... I hate the dash with that big curve... and it looks overweight...

Looks too much like the new Highlander. Very bloated look from the side. More leg room for the rear passenger would be most welcome - don't know if they have done that. Also I sincerely hope Lexus will give the owner the ability to over-ride the GPS unit safety feature (where it does not allow anyone to change anything if the vehicle is moving). Other than that this is a fine vehicle.

as for me, this new Lexus RX generation looks like Hyundai's Veracruz.. and the rear-end looks like Mazda's CX-9. And if you ask me to choose between this upcoming Lexus RX and Mazda CX-9, i would definitely choose the Mazda CX-9.
Current RX model looks much more beautiful.

Well, the headlights look like the ones on Nissan's SUV :(((

They have totally ruined the 2010 RX350 with those horrible, ugly tail lights. I could have taken all the other changes if they just hadn't changed the beautiful tail lights they have in all the other year models. The tail lights are the first thing that attracted me to the RX back in 2005. I wad driving behind a RX330, had no idea what it was, but I said "I've got to have one of those!". I had a 2006 RX330, and now I have a 2008 RX350. I sure hope the 2008 will last me a long time since I don't like the new style. I know I'll be looking at other makes of SUVs when it's time for me to change vehicles because of what they have done. I hope a lot of other people do too so they will see that they really messed up a beautiful car.

Yeah, what happened to the sleakness? It certainly looks bloated and unappealing. Now I'm leaning to the X5.

I just saw the new RX and this is probably the most techologically advanced vehicle in the world. It is much nicer than conveyed in pictures and is improved in almost every way. When I read the previous comments, my thoughts were, "These people are nuts". This car is a winner.

Great tech, awful curved dash and exterior changes. 2009 Audi Q5 looks hot in comparison.

  13. Anonymous » February 16, 2009

Not much difference in the amount of people space inside. Lincoln MKX much nicer and has much more interior room. Lexus is an over-rated vehichle.

um...what's with posting crap comments if you don't like it? what the f***?

i like it. and explain to mne how is it not SLEAK? plus people. its all based on opinion. so shut up and post somewhere else.

If you don't know already not every car is made to be «seen in» most of the time people want a car for reliability and functionality and Lexus is one of the best if not the best in that category. This car i probably one of the most advanced car when it comes to technology and fuel economy. Now if your looking at the looks of this car, well its not going to win any prizes but thats not Lexus' intentions, they were thinking about this car's aerodynamics. And any person who says that the Audi Q5 is better doesn't know anything about cars because to my opinion Audi's are OVERPRICED for nothing, they look cheap in the inside and are cheap. Thats my thoughts about it but I'm not going to force people to like it I'm just saying there looking to much at the simple side of the 2010 RX 350.
