We've just landed these fresh spy shots of the extremely subtly facelifted BMW X5 SUV that was caught testing without any camouflage at all. And truth to be said, there's no need for any type of body cladding as the only styling change compared to the current model is the newly designed front bumper with larger air-intakes that house the repositioned fog lights. And yes, the new bumper is identical to the one found on the X6 SAV.
Though that's the only visible styling change on this particular prototype model, our sources state the production model will also feature a subtly revised rear bumper, new alloy wheel designs and updated trim in the interior.
The X5's engine line up will remain for the most part unchanged with the exception of the new 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo diesel unit that makes 306 horsepower at 4,400 rpm and a peak torque of 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) at just 1,500 rpm while there's also talk about the revised 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six petrol that generates 326HP in its latest guise, up from 306HP.

I sit just me or is it a case of seen 1 seen 'em all *yawn* How Dull!
what do you mean by your sources?
I am sick of all the bloggers claiming that their sources... lets face it there is no such source. why make yourself more interesting?
Mr Anonymous: According to sources, you are not aware of my background, so why try to make yourself more interesting by posting (yet another) anonymous hate comment?
Why does it still have the old iDrive.
this is not a hate comment. I ve been reading your blog for a long time and know pretty well what you are doing. I think it is just dumb to make yourself more interesting. No offense, but this criticism should make you as a blogger better not act like a smart ass.
I have an automotive background and it is just stupid to see bloggers say such things that their inside sources. Have you counted how many "inside people" you already have?
Well, let's just say that you're not the only one with an automotive background. And if you've been reading Carscoop for a long time as you claim, that's something that you should have been aware of by now.
Have we made mistakes? Sure, who hasn't. But we're getting tired of the same "automotive-background" anonymous commentators leaving the same negative comments. Are you a web journalist? If so, leave us your site-address and let's turn the table the other way around.
@John
No I am not, but I am well aware how the whole PR works and how information moves in auto companies.
And John, why are you referring to yourself as we? Take pride of what you do and make yourself a name, you are a good blogger.
and John. If you really have such inside sources, then why aren't you getting pics from them?
To use an old English expression, you can't polish a turd!
JB, London
Anonymous: Inside sources doesn't necessarily mean that someone hands you first photos or if they do, that you have the right to publish them. And who said anything about PRs? Is that how you receive your information?
And in any case, allow readers to be the judge of how many stories have been published first by Carscoop. If you need anything else, you have our e-mail - that is if you ever decide to reveal yourself. Otherwise, this thread about the X5 Facelift.
Little sceptical that the old iDrive will be carried over. Front nose still looks taped on and may not be a "for sure" in the refresh.
Back on topic...
I thought the facelift was coming in the 2011 X5? (Not the 2010 X5)
The interior looks identical to my '09 X5 I just purchased... and I did hear the new iDrive is coming to the X5 for 2010.
Facts:
New idrive will be in the 2010. New engine offerings will not.
New engine offerings will be in March, with an early introduction of the 2011 face-lifted models.
Well, it is now confirmed that the new idrive will be in the 2010 model.
I think the X5 is perfect as it is. I hope they don’t ruin it.
When are 2010 X5s coming to market? I have been searching local dealership inventories but all I could find was X5M, which is not what I am looking for (price, 3rd row seats, etc.)
Any insights (I live in New Jersey)? Thanks!
Good question. They are in production. However, for some reason as of today the BMW website still "builds" the 2009 model. From what I have gathered from reading the various sites, those who ordered in August or September may be getting their vehicle in late October or November. Those ordering now would get them in November (I think). I guess it depends on demand. My frustration is attempting to figure out what the car is actually going to look like. Some say exactly the same, other says no this the typical year 3 "refresh" model and the front end changes (see on all the blogs) will be featured on the 2010 model. And still some other say an "LCI" version with the new front will come out in April. Its confusing as hell and BMW isn't helping clear up the confusion at all. Even the dealers can't tell me definitively.
Ok..I called Spartenburg since the dealer here never called back. The 2010 model year X5 will look exactly the same as the 2009 model year. However, production is from October through March 2010. This supports what everyone else is saying...that the new look "refreshed" X5 will be in prouction starting in April 2010 as a 2011 model year. I like the look and will probably wait (which sucks).
