Peugeot 407 Coupe V6Peugeot is enhancing its 407 Coupe model lineup for the 2010MY with the introduction of a new pair of diesel engines that have been developed in cooperation with Ford. Leading the way is the new 3.0-liter V6 HDi diesel that was recently launched on the Citroen C5 and C6 models. The new unit that replaces the outgoing 2.7-liter V6 HDi generates 240HP at 3,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm from 1,600 rpm to 3,600 rpm.

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6Surprisingly, it's the most powerful engine ever to be used on a production Peugeot. Equipped with a particle emissions filter (PEF) and compliant to Euro 5 standards, the V6 diesel that is linked to a six-speed sequential automatic gearbox launches the four-seater coupe from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 7.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 240km/h or 149 mph.

Even though power is increased by 18 percent over the 2.7-liter V7 HDi, Peugeot claims a 15 percent reduction in fuel consumption announcing a combined figure of 7.2 lt/100km (32.7 mpg US or 39.2 mpg UK) with CO2 emissions of 189g/km instead of 225g/km on the previous model.

Peugeot 407 Coupe V6The second new diesel engine for 407 Coupe is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder HDi that is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox and develops an output of 163HP and 340Nm of torque compared to 136HP and 320Nm of the previous 2.0L diesel. With this powertrain, the 407 Coupe accelerates from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in 9.1 seconds and achieves a maximum speed of 220km/h or 137mph.

On average, the 407 Coupe 2.0 HDi consumes 5.2 liters of diesel per 100 km which comes to around 45.2 mpg US or 54.3 mpg UK.

For the 2010MY range, all 407 Coupe models benefit from newly designed door mirrors, chrome trimming on the upper section of the side windows and all-new navigation system.

F**k just get the replacement for the 407 sorted already! Jeeze who cares about the slow selling coupe when is the 408 coming out? thats peugeots problem they will mess about with models that wont make that much money like the 308cc, 3008 5008 or whatever but they have kept the crappy 407 on sale since 2004 when everyone else has a new model in that class - Ford has the Mondeo, Citroen the C5, Honda the new Accord, Vauxhall the Insignia, isnt it more important to roll out one of you major sellers instead of focusing on lowly models? Just sort it out man.

Ti Anon from 08 july. 90% of coupe models of coupe all selling slowly! This is segment specific, not 407 Coupe problem:)
Ask yourself why Accord, New Vectra, Mondeo. etc. show new models? The answer - Because they are much oldeer then 2004 Peugeot 407. And new 408 in 2010 is just in time. So, your knowledge of automotive market is too poor to comment something seriously))

Albeit several quality problems exist,I am attracted by whole Peugeot 407 series, from 4-door sedan to coupe.
Certainly she is somewhat cumbersome and not so wide in back space, her on-the-rail stability is second to none,in my opinion. She can cruise more safely than some BMW and Mercedes, under gusty, rainy,or snowy conditions. That's the boon of Peugeot's own suspension tuning, with a lot of compliance as well as vast stroke.
Of course her engines are generally flexible, especially 4-cylinder turbodiesels are gems! On the other hand, the 407's Achilles heels are 6-cylinder variants in my remark. Her V6 engines, whether 2.7 turbodiesel or 3.0 gasoline, can wind her up to manufacturer data of 143-146mph(230-235km/h) steadily and sometimes reach around 155mph(250km/h),if well run-in examples. It is up to mark, but her mid-range torque and starting response are rather mundane, compared with newest Mercedes,BMW,and Audi units. On top of it,her fuel consumption is barely average,as 12-13km/l(2.7diesel) and 8-9km/l(3.0gasoline).
Such lethargic attributes are not suitable for Peugeot's own intention as "dynamic, advanced grand-turismo",thus the newly-born 3.0V6 turbodiesel is very savior for her. Its train-like immense torque is very attractive for me! But how many customers will choose the 407 coupe with new 3.0-litres diesel?
The next-generation Peugeot 408 is waiting on wing,so the reason for buying 407 from now is mainly for discounting. The 408 will retrieve Peugeot's traditional virtues as spaciousness, good visibility and sheer reliability,I hope!
