Audi A4 2.0 TDIeAudi's UK division has opened the order books on the most fuel-efficient version of its A4 saloon, the 2.0 TDIe which returns a combined economy figure of 61.4mpg Imp. (4.6lt/100km or 51/1mpg US) and a low CO2 output of 120g/km. Available exclusively is sedan form and priced from £23,340 OTR, the Audi A4 2.0 TDIe will reach its first customers in October.

Audi A4 2.0 TDIeThe latest 'e' model in Audi's range is powered by a 136HP version of the 2.0-liter TDI engine first seen in the A6 2.0 TDIe. Producing 320Nm of torque from 1,750rpm, the directly injected diesel that is linked to exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox allows the A4 2.0 TDIe to reach 62mph (100km/h) from standstill in 9.5 seconds and go on to a top speed of 134mph or 215km/h.

The A4 2.0 TDIe employs various efficiency measures such as a start-stop system, recuperation technology that recycles a proportion of the wasted kinetic energy under braking, a five per cent increase in the transmission's final drive ratio and low rolling resistance tires plus grille and under-body modifications combined with a lowered sports suspension to enhance aerodynamics.

Wow...Honda just launched its Hybrid and the thing gets worse mileage?!! (4.8 l/100km)
Instead of turning the automobile into a glorified golf-cart, support these 'green' technologies over hyrbids. We don't need 'zip cars' we need more efficient technologies!

    Long live the combustion engine!!

I won't care about this car until Audi offers it in the United States with this turbodiesel engine.

Please anonymous, dont compare a diesel to Honda's Hybrid. Audi's are great, but one doesn't smell bad... (and it's not the Honda)

Yeah I dont get why a DSG7 couldnt go in this car... It wouldnt hear the mileage.

You can get a VW Jetta with a 2.0T diesel and a DSG for less money and virtually the same technology and U.S. mileage figures. It'll smoke this Audi from 0 to 60. (Pun intended) You just won't impress your friends at the country club.

To Anon. #4. New diesels don't smoke and don't smell bad. I wish that jacked up Dodge Ram would let me pass! Cough, cough. Well, some diesels.

Remember to snap this Audi up for its floaty steering, crashy ride and offset pedals for RHD cars!

Her new diesel has monster-like 61mpg(roughly as economical as the Toyota Prius) as well as 220-230km/h Autobahnen cruising ability. She's one of the best trans-Europe express!
