Aston Martin Rapide Sports Saloon Wallpaper Galore: 60 High-Res Photos Plus Detailed Specs

|
The Brits sure took their time but Aston Martin has finally dropped a comprehensive image gallery and detailed specs of its new high performance Rapide sports sedan onto the web. A similar but much better looking proposal to the Porsche Panamera, the Rapide was introduced in production form at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and is expected to reach dealerships early next year.

For the time being, the somewhat cramped four seater with the 301 liters of boot capacity will be offered exclusively with Aston Martin's hand-built 6.0-litre V12 engine that produces 477-horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of peak torque at 5,000 rpm.

A specifically tuned six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission that allows the driver to change gear automatically or manually through the steering column-mounted magnesium paddles sends power to the rear wheels.

According to Aston Martin's claims, the Rapide can accelerate from standstill to 60mph in 5.1 seconds (0-100 km/h: 5.3 seconds) and reach an estimated maximum speed of 188 mph or 303 km/h.

Aston Martin's "Grey Goose" to Porsche's "Pabst Blue Ribbon".How can something that does the same job(4 door Grand Touring) look so much better?Bravo A.M.,you have done it once again!

The fifth picture, is that place real?? WOW!!, does anyone know where is it? I can only imagine what it would be like to drive the Rapide in a place like that... astonishing!!

i think i'd buy a panamera over this, the prototype looked much better, now it looks like some kind of home-made aston martin limousine

I'm not sold on hyper-expensive hatchback sedans. The Panamera looks like a 911 with down syndrome. The AM looks like a one-off Vantage with two doors grafted on that an oil heir in Dubai would have designed. The Maseratti Quattroporte or Audi S8 are so much more chic. Even though I love both brands, the Porsche and the Aston designs just seem botched.

I dunno this looks pretty special - think its meant to be a 4 door sportscar not a 4 door fast saloon... The interior certainly isnt as fussy as the panameras with its 6000 interior buttons...

Aston 1, Porsche 0. Not to mention a knock out interior.

Agree that the Quattroporte is classy but the Audi S8 looks like a bauhaus box on wheels compared to this sleek Aston beauty!

Pass...
Panamera please.

Aston 2, Porsche 0. Mainly because of the knock out interior.

The Panamera may be a Porsche, but the design looks like a Rugby player threw up all over a 997.

"The AM looks like a one-off Vantage with two doors grafted on that an oil heir in Dubai would have designed."

Very true. How long before we see a stretch version on the Vegas strip?
Oh wait, it already looks like a tacky stretch.
Nevermind.
