Today, the Chrysler Group LLC and it's Italian parent company partner Fiat presented the firm's long-awaited five-year business plan that's supposed to show how Fiat will turn the U.S. automaker's fate around and save the company from going down. Many interesting thing were said and shown at the eight-hour long press conference including Chrysler's new logo but in this post, we'll concentrate on the 2010-2014 product plan of the Chrysler Group's core division that comprises of the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge Cars and Ram Truck brands.
The company's five-year product strategy that includes many new models based on Fiat platforms was unveiled by the Group's vice president of product planning, Joseph Veltri.
Starting off from Jeep, in 2010, aside from the market launch of the new Grand Cherokee, the Patriot, Compass, Wrangler and Liberty will be freshened. The following year, the Wrangler will receive another update including a new interior. 2013 will see the Jeep brand receiving three new models based on Fiat platforms including a small SUV, a common replacement for the Patriot and Compass, and a new Liberty. The Commander will most likely be dropped off in 2011.
Moving on the Chrysler, next year the brand will present the redesigned Sebring and 300 sedans while in 2012, a new Fiat-based compact sedan will join the range., In 2013, Chrysler will get three new products based on Fiat platforms, including a Fiat Group sourced small car (most likely the Punto), a successor to the Sebring and a new midsize crossover. An all-new Chrysler-developed Town and Country minivan will be presented in 2014.
In 2010, the Dodge Car brand will unveil refreshed versions of the Avenger and Journey, along with a fully redesigned Charger sedan and a new fullsize CUV. The Nitro will receive a facelift in 2011 as will the Challenger pony car while the Viper will be freshened up in 2012. The same year will see the introduction of a new Fiat-based compact sedan that will replace the Caliber which will be discontinued after 2012.
In 2013, Dodge will get yet two more Fiat-based models, a small car and a replacement for the Avenger sedan. The Grand Caravan will be replaced with a new model in 2014.
Finally, highlights of the newly-formed Ram Truck division's plans include the possible presentation of a new mid-size pickup truck based on a car platform in 2011, and the launch of Fiat-based small and large commercial vans in 2012. Furthermore, the company said that it will discontinue the production of the Dakota in mid-2011.

Yeah, okay, cars based on Fiats and built in the US under Italian management. Like the exact opposite of saying a car engineered by Germans, designed by Italians and built by Japanese. BIG FAILURE
Notice the 300 grille anyone ?
Fiat already has a small SUV in the US market, its called the Suzuki SX4.
Timo,
Of course it will be a big failure because everything everybody does is based on stereotypes. (sarcasm)
Let's see what happens... some things will work and some won't, but remember when GM gave Fiat $2,000,000,000.00 to get out of a contract and Fiat (Marchionne) turned the company around...
and then GM went on to bankruptcy...
But how could that be, according to WWII stereotypes the Italians should not have been ready for the "Car War" and the U.S. should have trounced the opposition...
Ok with a lot of help from the Russians... even though we all know that the Russians are just a bunch of vodka swilling alcoholics. (sarcasm)
Let's see what happens...
Not sure about what looks like a big-bumper/ wider lower grill front end on the admittedly ageing PT Cruiser. Any change in the minivans would be an improvement - the VW version is much nicer, including not using the typically blocky Chrysler dashboard. Hopefully the Chrysler version is also remodeled in the rear. Minivans have always shared a lot with intermediate sedans, and I suspect that is the case now since the Sebring and the minivans have gotten similar criticism about ride and handling issues even from Consumer Reports. Hope they address those issues for 2010. It is a little suspect that the guy responsible for the current awful Chrysler designs is now even more in charge. A couple of months ago Carscoop had a rendering of I think an upcoming Fiat or Alfa sedan with a Chrysler face, and if only Chrysler had done something like that instead of the Caliber they might not be in quite so much trouble. Oh, and get rid of all the stupid macho names like Caliber.

No it doesn't. FIAT sells a rebadged version of the Suzuki SX4 called the FIAT Sedici or "sixteen [as in 4 x 4 = 16]. The Suzuki SX4 sold in the US is not FIAT-sourced in any way.
On the other hand the new Ford KA was co-developed with FIAT and is essentially a FIAT 500.

Hello, my name is Franco and I am Italian, I will not conceal that I am very proud that an Italian company has forged partnerships with the U.S.. But in reading the comments, which are present on various websites, I seemed to understand that some people are afraid of the management Fiat, as I see it that only one opportunity for both car manufacturers to complete its range.
In fact despite being only a car enthusiast, in analyzing the range Chrysler exported to Europe, I miss technically updated products, assembled with quality materials and mid-sized car that is below the 4.50 mt. While Fiat, have developed very good engines (petrol and diesel), assembled with good materials, but absolutely lacking in the range of 4.50 meters above the car, SUV, and SUV. In my opinion the biggest challenge for Fiat-Chrysler will regain customers by offering the restyling of the car and the new future auttuali who like quality and low fuel consuming as the 200c or the new Grand Cherokee all at a competitive price. I apologize for my poor English and I hope that you understand what I write. Good evening
