SPIED: 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible with Odd Orange-Silver Paint Job

|
We've shown you plenty of spy and even official design photos of the upcoming 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible the past few months, but these particular examples of the soft-top variant captured our attention due to their unusual two-tone paintjob.

Scooped by our man with the long lens as they were being transferred on a hauler, the two virtually undisguised E-Class Convertibles combine a flat orange finish for the body with a metallic silver paint for the front and rear bumpers, side skirts and exterior mirrors.

However, we're not sure if the body of the E-Class drop-top models has been painted or simply wrapped in a vinyl film.

Whatever the case, it won't be long before Mercedes-Benz takes the wraps off its new four-seater convertible model which is based on the E-Class Coupe sharing the same engine line up.

isnt it just the colour scheme mercedes use for crash testing?

is it not tape to aviod dents during movement. we see it on cars here all the time while they are being moved around on trucks.

If it was a protection tape, wouldn't they have covered the side trims? Plus, the most vulnerable parts during movement are the bumpers, not the bodywork.

It is a protective sheet or tape or something, you can see it by it's matte shade.

Same colour as our Taxis here! This is very peculiar indeed.. Dont think it is protective.. Though ANON comment at the top may have it with the crash testing colour..that would make sense

Were it Orange and Green it would have been a nice scoop. Now uve spoilt my day.

Why would this color only be on the metal parts of the car? The plastic body parts are all silver. I agree this is some sort of protective coating.

I think that they are a special order for a tuning house? Brabus? or the like. The bumpers are probably only there to make it legal and then it will be fitted with something custom.

The plastics are in silver. Just them.. The orange is not the final colour ofcourse! When for the last time you saw any brand new mercedes, offered in orange? This is not a Focus ST or something rather.. Mercs are not for youths, but maybe you don't know that.
