VIDEO: Bugatti Veyron Lake Crash Caught On Film as it Happened! No Pelican in Sight...

|
You've probably heard about the Bugatti Veyron that crashed into a Texas saltwater pond earlier this week with the driver claiming that he lost control of the $1 million + supercar when a "low-flying pelican distracted him". Well, guess what; someone, who happened to be traveling in a car on an adjacent road, was filming the Bugatti Veyron and actually captured the incident as it occurred! We looked at the video multiple times, heard the folks in the car repeating the 'S' word more times than we can remember, but a pelican we never saw... Check out the video after the break.

Thanks to Greg for the tip! (Source Youtube)

I wonder how fast you have to be going to drive on water? I've seen snowmobiles do it but never a car. Me thinks weight is the enemy.

'' i think it's a Lambo.'' Phh what an idiot.

That is hysterical! Love the commentary on the video. Does anything happen that doesn't get caught on camera anymore?

Looks like the recession affects the rich as well, can everyone say "insurance claim"

Anonymous said... »November 13, 2009

He wasn't even speeding for frigg sake!

Actually, since there was no pelican and now that a video has surfaced (that is going to be mirrored), the owner's insurance policy is now worthless.

Also, despite the passengers in the camera car not knowing the difference between a lamborghini and a Bugatti, they were smart enough not to mention any names or show their faces on camera. That way, the Bugatti owner can't find them or use some backdoor legal tactic to either have the video removed or to have them charged.

I'd be suprised if this mad it into Top Gear's news segment sometime in the next few weeks. That way, the story get exposed to a much larger audience, the video gets it's hits, and more efforts will be made to know the identity of the driver...which I'm sure VW is aware of and is witholding the identity.

Hey, it could happen.

There goes the insurance claim. Loser. Even more of a loser than someone who thinks its a 'Lambo'

Anonymous said... »November 13, 2009

No effect on the insurance claim. There are no stupidity exclusions

Ethan said... »November 13, 2009

Comprehensive insurance policies cover poor driving, it will just have a greater effect on his premiums if it was caused by driver error.

LOL "I think it's a lambo"

He WAS an opinion maker.

T think it's a Lammmmmm.....boat?!? lool

Anonymous said... »November 14, 2009

" Pretty sure it's a Lambo"...I'm almost lost for words! Presumably he is so familiar with "Lambo's" that it closely resembles his favourite Countach/Jalpa/Gallardo etc etc.

That familiar that it could be a Ferrari even? Lol. Problem is, it's from the United States of Europe. If it had been a good ol' Corvette or 'Stang, he would recognize it straight away!

Better not ask him if he knows what a Zonda is!

Personally I think its just some random rich guy trying to make himself famous :) Lol typical Americans :o

Anonymous said... »November 14, 2009

To the idiot who had the video camera...it is not a LAMBORGHINI...and it would take you years to just get a Bugatti Veyron

As for the driver...was he asleep on the wheel? It seemed like he was.

As for the beautiful 1001hp Bugatti Veyron...my heart skipped a beat when it went head on...into the water

I wonder if Bugatti would cover it under warranty...lol

At least the camera guy is listening to good music - Sublime. No idea how can you go off road with a Veyron at that speed though.. Not even with a Trabant!

RB said... »November 14, 2009

LAMBO... Huh, can't be that lame? Odd scene... not going that fast, must have been texting? Asleep at the wheel? A set up vid that went wrong?

@STEVE... FU!

Thanks a lot Steve ! It only proves once again the jealousy that you Brits have for the US. Now why not go fix those horrible teeth of yours before you make another wisecrack about America......

Anonymous said... »November 14, 2009

The great thing about America is that ANYONE can aspire to own a Bugatti, "Lambo" or whatever. We don't consider that at all outside the realm of possibility, because it's not. Europeans absolutely can't understand that, hence Steve's provincial comment. And I wouldn't expect a random driver in the US to necessarily be able to identify a very rare, overpriced Bugatti, any more than I'd expect Steve to know the difference between a Ford or Chevy pickup randomly driving down a road in the UK.

I think it's just amazing that technology is so ubiquitous anymore that capturing such a scene is even possible. The ET people always say that the reason a reliable UFO sighting has never been filmed is the same reason that random car accidents are never caught on camera. This will put that argument to rest. Imagine the odds!

my son pointed out to me that there is a white thing at the road side, just when the car veered off the road.

Anonymous said... »November 14, 2009

pretty sure it's a lambo, dude.

Stephen said... »November 14, 2009

Wow, an expensive mistake

Anonymous said... »November 14, 2009

Actually..."skipping" a car across water has been done AND it *was* a "Lambo". It was in the opening scene of cheesey 1989 B-movie called, "Speed Zone". It had quite the b-player all star cast too.

There is a white object moving across the front of the car low to the ground right before he drives off the road. The driver said he was on his cell phone, was startled when he hit the bird and dropped his phone. He drove off the road when he reached for the phone....it looks like that is what happened to me.
