VIDEO: Bugatti Veyron Takes a Dip Into Texas Lake

|
Evidently, the Bugatti Veyron wasn't made to drift on water. Too bad that the driver of the 1001HP, 16-cylinder quad-turbocharged supercar had to find out the hard way... But seriously now, according to media reports, the unnamed driver lost control of the Veyron as he was traveling north on Interstate 45 in Texas when a "low-flying pelican distracted him".

The report goes on to say that the man" jerked the wheel, dropped his cell phone" and ended up, or rather in, a saltwater lagoon. While the driver wasn't injured, the same can't be said about the Veyron which carries a $1 million + price tag.

Now if he was in James Bond's Spy who loved me Lotus Esprit, he'd have just looked cool coming out of the beach on the other side.

The driver was probably an opinion maker.

given the position of the wings - he appears to have been traveling at a high rate of speed.

Wow I could comment on almost everything everyone has said here. "Quad turbo bullshit" that baffles me, there is no "bullshit" involved in this car, it is one of the cars that has breathed life into the supercar manufacturing community.
Its easy to say hes a moron driver but until you are in the situation driving your 1500 toyota corolla i would not talk. Its funny how everyone thinks they are the greatest driver in the world but most prople have never stepped foot on a racetrack (other than a video game). Believe me this Dude has been to some racing classes, when you buy a Veyron it comes with them. So he can definetly drive, perhaps not the best driver in the world but he would more than likley be better than most of us.

And the wing being raised is no measure of speed, there is a button on the dash to manually raise or lower it, just like in a VW Corrado, porsche carrera and a host of other cars.

So as much as i think it was silly of the guy to (alledgely) talk on his cell phone while driving such a truly powerful car, i dont imagine he tried to park it in the lake. So lets cut the guy some slack, karma is a bitch, perhaps some day when you drive you Civic (with a fart can muffler) into the ditch maybe someone will have a video of that and you will me the "moron" who cant drive.

Good luck, and keep reaching for those stars!!!!
