VIDEO: Meet the New Porsche Boxster Spyder

|
Here's the first official video of the newest member of the Porsche Boxster family, the Spyder (click here for details and photos), that was revealed ahead of its world debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show in December. Weighing in at just 1,275 kg or 2,811 lb, the Spyder is the lightest model through-out the entire range of Porsche cars. Power comes from upgraded version of the 3.4-liter boxer six-cylinder engine used in the Boxster S, tuned to deliver 320 horsepower. Make the jump to watch Stuttgart's latest achievement in action.

Think the regular Boxster looks better.

Why add two bumps on the engine cover and call it a Spyder? There are too many variants of the 911 and now this is becoming the case for the Boxster too.

Porsche is becoming a bit of a con...!

Yeah it's a Porsche... another one... but WHO CARES!!! It looks the same as all the other 50 versions the last 20 years! Clarkson said it right; Porsche designer are the most lazy people in the world...

Yeah its faster, more nimble, but again WHO CARES!! People who buy this car don't care, they just buy the image.

Wow... sour grapes, anyone?

Any of you dorkheads ever actually driven one of these? It's one of the best handling cars on the planet and sheer joy to drive!

what do you mean "yeah its faster, more nimble, but again WHO CARES!!"? Any one who is a car guy cares. Unless you are one of those people who uses cars as a status symbol. I like cars based on how they drive and what emotions they evoke when I drive them.

Yeah. I don't get that either. Every guy and gal I know buy cars because it's "faster, more nimble," so I don't know what this guy is taking about. Probably couldn't afford the affordable new Spyder, so he decided to be childish and blast everyone else who can. Very distasteful.

I've come to the conclusion, that the individuals who usually criticize are those that really can't afford it, or have never driven that particular vehicle. I love my boxster, and I really like the new boxster spyder. I don't know, besides the lightning fast speed, the rare required maintenance (it's never let me down, ever! ... ehem, right now, not even Toyota can make this claim,), and the attention it gets, what else could there be? And for those of you that might think I'm just another Porsche junky, I also own a Hummer H2, so I'm not prejudiced towards any "particular" type of vehicle.
