The boffins over at the Swedish news site 'Aftonbladet' have posted this photo of the estate version of the new Saab 9-5 without any camouflage whatsoever. We're not entirely sure if it's the real deal or not as while the shades and lights on the body suggest it's a static picture, the alloy wheels appear to have been shot on the move. We don't know. But with Saab's future on hold for now, it may not matter as unless GM closes a deal with a potential buyer for its Swedish unit, chances are that neither the new 9-5 sedan nor its estate sibling will ever see the light of production.

It would be beatiful in real life..
But BAIC has announced that Intellectual property, design technology, management system rights purchased two billion dollars.
And VOLVO has been sold to Geely.
American destroyed Swedish car maker completely.
we have to accept the sad fact.......
BAIC bought the IP and so on of OLD models: old generation 9-5 and pre MY05 9-3. That has nothing to do with the brand, the new engines, models, production equipment, designs or IP whatsoever.

One brand is undergoing a change of ownership, and the other may or many not be sold.
Nothing is destroyed. It's destroyed when both names vanish completely from the car industry forever. If you were right, then Jaguar was destroyed becasue Ford sold the name to Tata.
Ford did not destroy Volvo. First Ford and Volvo, same thing with Mazda, shared technologies and let Volvo develop their vehicles, model changes, added models and so on. Ford did not destroy Volvo. Ford knew of Volvo's potential and made a progressive change and in return Volvo helped Ford develop safety features for their vehicles, from my perspective. No offense to GM fans but at least Ford moved the Volvo brand forward.
This looks really good, hope SAAB are saved and it gets released!
it looks nice , but gm wont sell Saab no matter what they are offered for saab. GM can not win by selling a brand to go against Buick. GM is trying way to hard to save Buick to really want to help Saab as a rival to Buick.
It would be a real shame to see Saab go... Especially this new model, which I think would have been its saving grace! Its the first Saab I think that really looks good...
In person, the sedan is actually quite the nice piece. Look closely, it's the well done little details that separate it from the rest of the pack. The wagon appears to be even more cohesive in it's overall design and execution (as was the previous 9-5 wagon, one fine looking wagon) Unfortunately, based on what I observed at the LA Show, since the smell of blood and death are in the air surrounding the SAAB brand, no one cared. Although extremely sad that another brand appears to be about to disappear, the brand never really lived up to it's potential on many levels. A major part of this was due to the fact the price was way to high for it's perceived and actual position in the market place. Above average cars in many ways; BMW or Mercedes competitors, sorry, they missed the mark. If they had simply lowered the prices by roughly 5-8% below current level's, this would have boosted there perceived value and sales would have improved. To late now. I believe miracles can happen (look at the saving of the HUMMER brand), but in this case it's a miracle no one really cares about.
A beautiful car from what I see here and what I saw of the sedan at the recent LA Auto Show. It's sad that GM never took a real interest, as ford did with Volvo and Jaguar, to invest more into SAAB and help to realize the upmarket aspiration it has always strived to achieve. NO, GM will NOT make sure SAAB survives. If a deal can not be worked out soon with Spyker, or someone, the brand will go the way of Pontiac and Saturn and will die. SAD. They were the first in many area's of current car tech: SAAB embrace turbo's way back in the 80's and stuck with it. Gave the world the first Direct coil-over ignition system in the early 90's (sorry, can't remember the year) and, probably it's greatest contribution, was one of the first companies (along with Volvo) to adopt the then ground breaking smog control technology that used something called an "Oxygen Sensor" in the exhaust that allowed the "computer" to closely monitor the exact amount of fuel allowed to be injected into the air stream. It was called the Lamda-Sond system. The year was, as I remember, 1979. The rest is history, as they say.
