Hyundai Gives Azera /Grandeur Sedan a Mid-Life Facelift

|

Here's our first look at the 2010 Hyundai Grandeur facelift that was revealed in its home market in South Korea today. The revised Grandeur sedan, which is sold as the Azera in North America and other international markets, has received some minor cosmetic tweaks to keep it looking contemporary in a line-up of newer Hyundai products.

Most of the styling upgrades concern the mid-size sedan's front end which gains new headlamps, a redesigned bumper and larger grille.

At the back, changes are limited to the modestly revised LED tail lights, the reshaped bumper and the new chrome tail pipes.

Aside from some new options and standard features, the only difference inside concerns the introduction of a new package with Alcantara seats.

It remains unclear if or when Hyundai will redesign the North American Azera.

This car is being squeezed out by its corporate
sibblings...the slick new Sonota from below, and
the value/luxury Genesis from above. It really
leaves a narrow nitch left for this car.

It looks like the current generation refreshed Sonata. I wonder how the next generation sedan will look like? I hope that Hyundai designers distinguish the Azera from the Sonata, when this car gets redesigned.

I'd like to know what kind of exciting car the above Anonymous drives. Probably washed out, rusted and beat washing machine?

I agree with anonymous #1. It's being squeezed out by the Sonata and Genesis.

They shouldve made it a "sport" sedan to differentiate itself from the Genesis and Sonata to compete more with the Nissan Maxima and Acura TL.

Maxima/TL for thousands less = win!

To anonymous #4 I drive a VW Caddy and VW Passat...neither is rusty, or washed out(they are VW's after all)!!!

Saab 9-5 much?

They might as well have ripped them off completely, since Saab's on its way out anyhow.

-You are a driver to whom? You should try for an owner who will own the Sonata. No one would miss you.

I say can the Azera it no longer serves a purpose in the line up. The 2011 Sonata is now by EPA standards consider a large car so the Azera really has no competition. Although the Genesis is marketed toward Mercedes, Lexus, & BMW owners. It is more of a Maxima, Taurus, LaCrosse, Avalon, Chrysler 300 competitor by being a full-size entry-luxury sedan. The Genesis is a great alternative to the prestigous Benz, Lexus, Bimmers cars. Can't wait to see how the new Eqqus turns out.

Balance is off, proportions are all wrong. I can't wait until Hyundai redoes this car, it needs a re-design badly.

She looks flabby, but has a lot of cost performance toward the likes of Nissan Maxima,Buick LaCrosse,Chrysler 300C,V6-powered Accord and Camry. Her handling and mechanical refinement are barely on par,yet her buyers make more priority to reliability, equipment, and service cost,so she does fairly well in such fierce segment.
