We're still waiting for Ford to release an official video on the 2011 Mustang that marks the debut of a new 3.7-liter V6 with 305 ponies which will replace the 2010MY's archaic and underpowered 4.0-liter V6 with 210hp. However, we did find a short audio clip of the Mustang's new V6 that you can hear after the jump. And just for the record, the original clip was only 6 seconds long so we added three in a row.

too bad it doesnt sound like the camaro v6, which also happens to sounds similar to a VQ or the genesis v6....i'm sure some exhaust tuning will fix that
ehm...my fourpot 318is sounds more agressive
My Kia Rio sounds better lol
It sounds kind of hoarse for a V6 I hope that Ford re-tunes the exhaust a bit better so it doesn't sound hoarse. My mazda3's 2.0L MZR engine sounds better. Overall Ford re-tune the exhaust.
I think you guys are missing the big news here.
Fact is that they are getting almost a 48% increase in horsepower out of a smaller and most likely more efficient V6.
I think they did a good job.
As for the sound of it, who EVER bought a V6 Mustang Camaro or Challenger because it sounded cool!?!?!?
People who enjoy the sound of a V6 are typically Euro tuners and domestic turned import fans! I happen to have an Altima with a 3.5 VQ that sounds great with a WAI and a resonator delete!
Ford doesn't need to re-tune anything, unless you want it to sound like a Chevy Beretta!
Reg; V-6 sounds.
In my experience, the only auto manufacturer who got the piping on a V-6 right, was Ferrari with the Dino.
I pretty much just don't like the sound of a V-6. The only other engine sound I dislike is the Viper/Ram V-10, which has a god awful sound for Hot Rod. The engine crank planes and resulting firing orders, are to blame. But there is something else......
The kids now days will be fine with the Banger and V-6 sounds as that is what they are growing up with and relate those sounds to performance. I grew up with Flat Head Fords(V-8), Chrysler Hemi and Poly (V-8's), Small Block Chevies, Cadillac & Olds V-8's, Split pipe and manifold 'Straight Six' Jags, 300SL's and Chevies, even rodded 'Straight Eights' ...Buicks and Pontiacs, and early Bangers ..Ford Tee's and A's. These are the piped motors that produce the sounds that my generation loves. Believe me, racing through the country side with a 'straight piped' Jag XK-120 sounding off the trees and hills is not to be forgotten, especially when sitting beside you is a pretty girl yelling at you to go faster.
Looking forward to hearing a great sounding V-6, but I have my doubts.

The exhaust needs a smoother, deeper growl. Not loud, just less abrasive sounding. Maybe it'll sound better from inside the car. Also, to some people, engine asthetics are just as important as performance. That engine looks utilitarian, like a truck engine, instead of a performance engine. Maybe it's the assymetry of the intake and related parts on the top of the engine. It just looks strange in that engine bay. Other then that, Ford has done a pretty nice job with this vehicle. Some performance and some decent mileage. Can't wait to see the performance figures; should be close to the Camaro V6 if not better.
well the first thing that comes to mind is the people that got a 2010 Mustang, V8 with 315hp and paid more money....just to have ford make a v6 with 305hp .... what a kick to the fact...
