Bespoke Lamborghini Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster in Matte Black [with Video]

|

You'd assume that a supercar like the Lamborghini Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster of which only 50 examples were ever built, is so special and rare that its owner would think more than twice before attempting even the slightest customization. Apparently that didn't apply to the Beverly Hills owner of the No2/50 Murcielago LP650-4 Roadster.

As soon as he took possession of the rare Italian supercar, the owner went ahead and transformed the Raging Bull model according to his taste.

All 50 Murcielago LP650-4 Roadsters were finished in a gray shade accented by orange styling touches, something that the owner didn't like. The supercar was stripped down to the metal and the complete interior was removed in order to apply a matte black paint job with gloss black highlights.

The roadster was also fitted with a set of custom made, 19-inch GFG three-piece forged alloy wheels with a glossy black outer lip, matte black center and orange highlights. The rims are shod in Pirelli P-Zero 245/30/19 front and 355/25/19 rear tires.

Other mods include a one-of-a-kind audio system with Focal Utopia KIT 7 component 3-way speakers that are powered by two Alpine PDX series amplifiers totaling over 1600 watts of power, and an Escort SRX radar detector with the main controller mounted on the center console.

The bespoke Lambo keeps the factory model's 6.5-liter V12 mid-mounted engine with 650HP intact.

Only the spokes are bespoke.

With the recent introductions from Ferrari, it has become more and more obvious just what a one note Lambo design has become. Even the “special versions” have started to look boring. Engines and speed are fine, but tack a new direction Lambo, it’s 2010!

Not liking the colour. Very muted looking. Yet, it will be somebody's baby, if not already.

Let's admit it's great-looking in Matte Black with those wheels. Downside?  All 50 of 51 (one was designated as 'historic' by Lambo and will forever reside in their Museum adjacent to the Factory) were painted and outfitted with the same colors, equipment, and interiors. Some buyers have repainted their LP650s, installed wings, etc., which diminishes the collectibility and long-term value compared to a perfect, no/low mileage car. Mine is the only "M" model ("modificato') of the five LP650s delivered in the U.S. under warranty by an authorized Lamborghini dealer. It has headers, Larini tuned exhaust system, low-restriction cats and mufflers, high-speed air horns, dynamometer-remapped engine, transmission and timing, low-restriction intake air filters, and a power increase to just under 700 BHP. Zero - 60 MPH was clocked by the Lambo techs between 2.9-3.1 seconds depending on the use of "Corsa" mode or "Launch Control". Two dealers arranged a swap for my incoming red Ferrari GTO (one of 599 being built) for this more rare, quicker LP650 (one of only 50 built). Finally, my LP650 Order Form includes an entry for carbon-fibre, removable hardtops for my LP650-4"M" but which will fit all Murcielago Roadsters. D.O.T. Approval is now being awaited (I sure don't want them to fly off at 200kph/125mph). By the way, Jen and I weren't sure about the colors either, until we saw the car in person. It's STUNNING !
