Making its world premiere at the Detroit motor show alongside the 556HP Cadillac CST-V Coupe, is the XTS Platinum Concept. GM calls it a concept model, but the 203.5 inches (5,170mm) long XTS is expected to heavily influence Cadillac's upcoming flagship sedan that will replace the DTS, and quite possibly, the STS also.
The full-size sedan, which most likely shares the vehicle platform with the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, keeps all the usual styling cues of modern Cadillacs such as the sharp creases and vertical lights.
The concept's interior blends leather, wood and other high quality materials with modern technology like the Organic Light-Emitting Diode (O-LED) displays that replace the traditional gauges and screens.
Under the Caddy's bonnet is GM's 3.6-liter V6 engine with direct-injection plus a plug-in hybrid system that deliver a combined output of 350HP and 295 lb-ft of torque.

I'm surprised how well the smooth cab forward-esque shape met up with the Cadillac art, science, and t-square design language. This is a big car with a big presence. My only issue is the rear seat. With so many premium brands offering massage/recline functions, climate controls, and various shading options for the rear passengers,i'm not sure a straight bench,a couple of tv's and two rinky-dink vents in center console can be considered "world-class" these days.Still,a massive leap forward, good job.
Purchase yourself an Audi A8 and spare yourself the grieve of owning a near-luxury brand like Cadillac has become. The materials used in the A8 far exceed those of any used in this XTS.
It is the Saab 9-5 from the back C-pillar and on and the interior is all Saab 9-5. It is the same designed just made it with Cadillac design themes. I am not a Cadillac fan, as there are better cars out there in the luxury car market, but the design looks better in this car than the CTS.
you can just hear the cheers coming from all the limo drivers -- FINALLY, they can replace their decrepit Lincoln Town Cars for this
be prepared to see lots of stretched limo conversions soon
Great road presence. Not much aware of the brand though.
In that light, what makes you think a near-luxury car like the A8 can hold a torch to an S-class?
Dude, you can't compare the XTS with the A8 !!
Maybe the A6 or E-Class. And there is nothing from Saab on that car.
All this about styling comparisions......My first view reminded me of my 08 STS. And the word is that this new vehicles is replacing both the current DTS & STS. Should be a great touring machine.
Yes, get yourself an A8 and be mistaken for an A6 or worse, an A4 cause they all look alike.
Also, run your fingers across the beautiful A8 dash and take comfort in knowing it is the same plastic being used in a VW Golf with the same switch gear and knobs, just more of them.
See? Audi does the same thing as GM: use the same resources from lower line cars.
Euro-douche wanna be.
as i have been saying for days now and every year i attend, one MUST see these cars in person to really appreciate their form. the film helps capture the magic for those unable to be here in detroit. trust me, no matter the vehicle, these cars, trucks, suv's and crossovers look 100% better in the flesh, even the boxy types!
when will the "AARP" edition be available for sale?
sadly, this is just a concept. after gm gets finished with the production version, we may lose the best aspects of the show car, like the funky grille and headlights. you wait!
I thought all Cadillacs came with the AARP package as standard equipment. ;) All kidding aside, it looks like Cadillac is pushing for the "full luxury" designation. I wouldn't mind being seen in one of these. Hopefully, many of the exterior features will make it into production. I doubt that the interior will, but it's a step in the right direction.
^ i am pretty optimistic about the interior. getting a close look, it appears production ready! too much fine detail to be concept only. gm usually really skimps on interior trim one for show only cars and trucks and does not allow for close-up shots otherwise.
Current CTS and STS capture magic of 60's and 70's Benzes, (W109/114/115) in a modern way. This concept is continuation of the same ingenuity in design language...this should've been S-class Concept....
This is by far the classiest Cadillac, and as most say, it does indeed have road presence...I always feel like the 7 series and S Class are in the same segment but no really competing...I think this will likely steal S Class clients rather than 7 series...the 7 Series is a GREAT car but feel it's more sportier and to an extent less elegant and poised than the S Class...I feel this is the very first car that will have Mercedes S class really unsettled.. A8 is more of a 7 series type of competitor though they are lagging behind... from a SAAB fan ...a job welldone GM, the CTS has also done wonders...I really wish GM all the best Cadillac is definitely on the uprise...and I really hope they sell SAAB!
Very nice Christmas Tree from Cadillac!
^ actually, i do not think any of these cars necessarily compete. well, perhaps there are some cross shoppers between 'benz and bimmer, cadillac and lincoln, but it is my understanding that a lot of buyers of these large sedans stay pretty loyal to their brand. i think, with the exception, of many former town car buyers defecting to a company offering something far more modern and refined.
Looks really hot...I'm surprised. Just hope the dopey Japanese 1990s A-Pillar doesn't make it to production
THIS CAR IS FUCKING FIERCE!!!!!!
^ only time will tell if cadillac will keep many of the concepts features, like large wheels/tires, funky grille, advanced head lamps, cool mirror, stately door handles. doubt it. as nice as it looks, the cadillac 16 show car was far better!
It's FRONT WHEEL DRIVE BASED WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great looking but no S Class or 7 Series, because those cars are made right "REAR WHEEL DRIVE" I've been dreaming of the day when A DTS (I hate name changes) Will rise and attack Europe head on with a proper world class "Standard of the World" Claiming sedan and Hardtop ETC Coupe! Capable of offering Direct Injected Turbo V6, V8, and V12 DOHC engines, and 8 speed or better automatics. Only a Rear WHEEL DRIVE car can do! Add a Hybrid drive system inline and offer Natural gas versions of all engines, and finally save the All American Big Sedan from those green butchers!
looks like a sixteen but it has four door handels and its a V6 but it looks like it
oh my god, this cadillac xts platinum concept 2010 car is what i call a true cadillac it's just beautiful,it's luxerus, nice it looks cool and i believe that it would drive great on the road.Ihope in 2012this cadillac xts platinum concept would be out.I just love it.When this cadillac comes out i will de one of those to buy it.Cadillac is like the best car in the world.
They to should have the option of rear wheel drive and all wheel because if they release this based on how it looks right now? They will shut the luxury game down! Hands down
