could have been great but won't be a big seller for 2 reasons...1st it looks like an old Saturn wagon and 2nd is it's proposed price of $40,000

I gotta get these eyes checked. When I first glanced at the insignia on the front I read BVD!

God what year is the bogy design from??? 1998? That thing is ugly!

Anonymous said... »January 13, 2010

It'll be really badly made, hopeless to drive and will be dangerous in any impact tests. Mind you, if you buy a car that's built and designed in China and really only fit as a party favor, you get what you deserve!

remember how attractive the chevy volt concept was compared to the ugly production version? well, this terrible design looks like a crossover cousin of the volt. not pretty!

did they steal a Camry's steering wheel? it's identical!

Clean, Clean, Clean.

A nice EV package in an inoffensive design.

Hope it makes here in a timely fashion. It's success would change things considerably for the EV market and other manufactures time line of EV offerings especially in this particular segment.

Commendable effort BYD Auto.

I'm with 3Deuce27 on this one. It's an appliance on wheels, and for an EV,is that such a big crime? And i'd rather boring straight lines than some of the more exotic "things" i've seen from China.I don't know about them selling these stateside within the year though. They have no dealer network, and that's not something that pops up over night, unless they plan on selling them on the lunch special menu at your local Chinese take out joint...

is that going to be available in china bufets? ? ? where they planing to sell these?!?! they don't have a dealers, do they? and it's "ugly" by the way, exept for genesis dash...

Reg; "selling them on the lunch special menu at your local Chinese take out joint..."

Now that's an innovative marketing idea that would widely bring it to the attention of the US public.

really, how does china get away with a blatant rip off of the jdm odyssey?

Braddo said... »January 13, 2010

Talk about dull design... This wont be too popular, who wants a car that looks 10yrs old as soon as you buy it... Even more boring than a Toyota...YAWN>>>

Ask Honda

Its definitly a good effort for an automaker who is just finding its first steps. The interior work is just fine in fact really well put. I guess they went too safe with exterior design and if the vehicle is solid it will sell, just ask Toyota.

they will sell a few to U-Cal Berkeley, Stanford and a few public utilities, but it's not likely to penetrate the mainstream market at its high pricepoint.

Anonymous said... »January 15, 2010

Ok, it is expensive, 40 000 $ is a lot of money, but finaly we talk about electric cars, which is great! In few years this is going to become mainstream and hopefully we'l get rid of these gas based cars. And btw this thing like you are not going to be safe with this type of car, because it's a chinese car etc. is simply funny. Have you ever seen Yugo or Dachia and these type of eastern europian cars!? They are litle more than can, and still people drive those cars for almost 2 decades. And gues what, nothing special happened, statistics are more less same as in any other western country. And what do you think chinese are driving, of course they own cars, and yet their industry and economy are strengthening, but on the other hand great western economies and car manufacturers are weakening...so, they can not be taht bad. Think about that...

I hope those range specs includes a full range of 6'2" American White Adults ... as opposed to 5'4" Chinese Adults. LoL
