What a throwback to an era better served in its day...and not today. The hood scoop is soooo sixties—where it belongs. And what's up with that shift knob on an automatic? Scale this new Challenger down by at least a forth of it current size; put realistic engines for today's situation (not the gas-guzzling sixties) and this new Challenger might stand a chance. As it is now, it is headed for the bone yard.
Wow. A T-handle in a maze-gate. Now that looks stupid.

You are just about the most ignorant fool I have ever come across! The hood scoop channels air into the intercooler i.e. as well as looking cool, it has a functional purpose. Its not an automatic, its a six speed manual, hence the shift knob as you put it!! The car weighs under 900kgs and has the footprint of a mini! ......and it has the same fuel consumption as one as it has a supercharged 1.8ltr engine!!! You are a moron. Know your subject before you comment!!!!!

900KG?? you sure about that? I am trying to get the exact number from Internet... but I think it should be more than that.
More than 900kg
that is clearly an auto
all versions of the Challenger are N/A
larger than a mini
higher fuel consuption that a mini.
Who is he trying to fool?
obvious troll is obvious. and not very good.
Ever seen a manual transmission that has two pedals??? And 900kg is impossible for this car. NO US build car weighs under 1200kg! And tha SRT-8 doe not nearly get the mileage as 4cilinder european or jap cars... Come of that cloud please.
"NO US build car weighs under 1200kg!"
You know, apart from things like the pontiac fiero, but i'm sure you already knew that when you went right ahead and said 'NO'.
This is sort of off topic, but the Challenger was number one in the recent Consumer Reports customer satisfaction survey. It topped the Toyota Prius which had been the previous winner. It also beat out the Fusion hybrid by one percentage point. Not bad for a vehicle from a much maligned auto manufacturer. Maybe Challenger owners know something that their detractors don't know. Like the fact that the Challenger does the job it was built to do and has been very popular with its target demographic. I do agree that the T-shifter looks a bit strange on an auto-trans however.

Well said!
...and if you want a car that gets better gas mileage, then go buy your European or Japanese cars that look like a modern-day Yugo.
Reg; "scoop channels air into the intercooler"
Not on the models covered in the article.
The Challenger is a decent, reasonably practical vehicle and a lot of fun. The RT has a high enjoyment quotient for the bucks.
Best used for weekends and trips, but because of it's size, it will provide daily service too.
Put it's detractors behind the wheel of and 'RT' with a six-speed for a few minutes, and we will have a new convert to this rather unique offering.

If they want to sell more of them, build them in right hand drive and ship them across the Pacific. I would love to buy one!
Wow. I am a CDN Mopar freak. Lived in UK for 3 Years. Built Mini that made Aug 05 Mini Magazine.
6oo Kg Car with 92 HP @ wheels does that compare to a (Guess) 2100 Kg car with 325 RWHP. I Plan to Buy a Challenger in about 18 Mths. Wont take 90% turns at 80 MPH like the MIni but the pull will be awsume. Just wanted to add that I used MG Metro hood scoops (Mini Had them) to solve the heat extraction problem on my Hemi Ram due to Headers/Towing. With 180 Thermos. it reduces enough Underhood heat and doesn't look to Bad.
My 2 cents. Diamond Plate Dan.
