New Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet with Folding Glass Top Bows Ahead of Geneva Show

|

Rounding off the new Megane family is the Coupe-Cabriolet that was formally introduced today ahead of its world premiere at next month's Geneva Salon. Like its predecessor, the new Megane CC is a two door model with an electric folding top that's mostly covered in smoked glass

The French carmaker claims the Megane CC's transparent glazed area of 0.47 sq. metres is the largest in the segment that includes cars like the Pininfarina-styled Ford Focus CC and the Peugeot 308 CC.

The four-seater convertible version of the new Megane also gets a fixed glass wind deflector located behind the back seat headrests that is said to allow draft-free driving at speeds of up to 90km/h or 56mph.

The fully-automatic, electro-hydraulic operated two-piece glass top goes up or down in 21 seconds at the press of a button with the Megane CC's boot capacity standing at 417 litres with the roof closed, and 211 litres when open.

Depending on the market, the new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will be available with a choice of up to seven gasoline and diesel powertrains.

The petrol line includes a 110HP 1.6-liter unit linked to a six-speed manual, a 1.4-liter TCe turbo with 130HP matted to a six-speed manual and a 140HP 2.0-liter with a CVT.

Diesel options include the 110HP dCi matted to either a new 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission or to 6-speed manual gearbox and the 130HP dCi and 160HP dCi that both drive the front wheels through a six-speed manual.

European sales of next generation Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will begin this spring.

its BEAUTIFUL..

my opinion is that there is not even one single beautiful car made by renault. This car is UGLY and that true.
best cars in this segment are: Peugeot 308CC, VW EOS, and new volvo c70..
But this segment is failure because with only few money more you can buy Super Looking car like BMW 3 Cabrio with it's perfect designed, powerful, sport, and elegant.

I was never a fan of the previous Megane CC or any other CC for that matter, but this looks much better.

I see they were smart enough to leave out the side profile photo, which makes any CC convertible's rear end look way too big.

Renault has always been making ugly cars.

Renault has always been making ugly cars? They have consistantly pushed what we expect as attractive and sooner or later the rest take notice... thanks to companies like Renault we CAN question what is good design

Vel Satis, Avatine, Espace mk4....How exactly have those piles made Renault something that any other automaker would take notice of...much less qualify you to say that Renault has good styling?

it's beautiful.
a nice alternative to an eos at a lower price very likely. it seems like a great little car to have available in this sector.

europeans have what like 4 makes of CCs? At this level I mean, so let's leave out the BMWs of the world.
VW Eos, Peugeot 308cc, Ford Focus cc, the Astra Twin Top plus the Tigra, the Micra cc...

In the States we have an overpriced Eos. Above it is the Volvo C70 and below it the Chrysler Sebring cc [good luck with that one, only ever saw one, and though exiting to have around but really the prettiest thing...), and the Pontiac C6 cc -- not bad looking but again never saw more than a handful around.

Now the Sebring cc is still out there amazingly but at basically $30,000!
http://www.chrysler.com/en/2010/sebring_convertible/

But Pontiac is going out of business... leaving the Eos as the only good looking but starting at over US$32,000, it's more of an entry level luxury car.

Wish the Renault were here...

This is something that Carlos should consider to
bring to the USA as a Nissan...can you say 200SX!

Anonymous said... »February 08, 2010

^ not even RWD.

Anonymous said... »February 09, 2010

not good

Anonymous said... »February 10, 2010

when did Renault last build a RWD car!!?? 1971 or something

Anonymous said... »February 11, 2010

compared to the last US 200SX this is wonderful.
Europe's 200SX was the 240SX here which was a different car from the US' 200SX. confusing????
