Audi A1 with S-Line Sport Package Spotted in the Wild

|

A sharp-eyed reader over from Autogespot took this single photo of the brand-new Audi A1 in the city of Barcelona, Spain. If we're not mistaken, the specific model appears to be equipped with the S-Line package that adds several goodies such as 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, a larger roof spoiler at the back and unique bumpers (notice the protruding insert on the rear bumper).

Audi's Mini Cooper chasing A1 hatch will have its first public outing at the Geneva Motor Show in March. At launch, it will be offered as a three door hatch with of four engines including two petrol units, the 86HP 1.2 TSI and 122HP 1.4 TSI plus two diesels, a 1.6 TDI with 90HP and 105HP.

European sales of the A1 will start this summer with prices beginning from around €16,000. No word yet if the Audi's new entry-level model will make it on this side of the Atlantic.

flashy!

Usual bland and cautious Audi effort livened up with some bling - the silver-effect A to C pillar is a gimmick without which it'd look like a 2/3rd scale A3. Rear is strangely bulbous and slanty, like a Q5 that's been sat on. The terminally undiscerning ladies who luncg will eat this boring little car up!

Audi is at least addressing this market category, and doing so quite well!

MINI, Audi A-1, or Fiat '500', all worthy of a place in my garage.

My old, but like new MX3, is feeling nervous.

That "SUV" up front is obviously a filming platform from which they shooting the new model from. Nonetheless, I like the form and characteristics of the A1. It will be on my list when and or if it comes to the States.

Reckon that SUV has a addition on the back, perhaps a camera rig and this is a ad shoot?

- you hit the nail on the head, so true.

Don't forget the Citroen DS3 also guys. A rumoured DS3-R is expected soon...

I honestly think this is the S1. It might be unbelievable, but look closely. An s-package is never so sporty as it seems to be on this one.

^an S1 would have matte metal mirrors.

and yep will see what power they give the S1...the DS3 R has set the pace on 157 KW from it's baby 1.6 Turbo engine...I suspect this will be new rating on the next MINI JCW as well, given it's the same engine (although I would like to see how far it can go ...I think Peugeot mentioned something in the 168 KW region for now...

It looks rather odd from that angle. It looks like a lift back/hatchback combination. Overall that car looks good, just weird from that angle

Nice PR stunt to drum up a bit of interest

So let me get this straight: it's silver roof arch livens it up, but it's a boring car that is identical, except in scale, to the A3, which doesn't have a "strangely bulbous and slanty" rear?

In essence, you're saying that if it weren't for the A1's styling differences it would have the same styling as the A3. Whoa! That's deep.

I really think tis car looks 'odd' in all its pics.. Somehow squashed design, too high waistline, and small wheel arches.. I hope it will look better in the flesh.. I still think a MINI has far more eye catching appeal than this..

I'm agree with braddo

You people are all weird. It's a nice, slightly sporty, compact little car form Audi. It testing its market value where the A3 could not mostly because of price. Stop acting like car sales is way in depth and impossible for the average mind to comprehend...you self entitled "car enthusiast's" are a joke. If you like cars, then enjoy them! Don't force your opinion on people when you think something is good or bad, right or wrong, to each their own
