At a first glance, few would guess that the first generation Audi TT shares a platform, engine and most of its mechanics with parent company Volkswagen's Golf as well as the VW Jetta, New Beetle, Seat Leon, Skoda Octavia etc., etc.
Call it down right honesty, call it stupid, you know, call it whatever, but the owner of this 2000 model year Audi TT Coupe, which is up for sale on eBay, had no problem at all replacing Ingolstadt's four-ring logos with the VW badge. He even went as far as adding a couple of VW emblems on the seats.
"I just added Volkswagen logos around to make it look different, since they are the same company," said the eBay with a sincerity that could do with a good a dose of self-irony. More pics for your enjoyment after the jump.

At least, the first TT owner that isn't afraid to admit that he drives a re-badged VW Golf.
Can anyone briefly explain the relation VW and Audi have with one another?
Yeah, VW owns Audi.
Basically VW/AUDI/SEAT/SKODA share a ton of engines and platforms making the cars dull as ditch water , VW are even cheeky enough to rebadge a previous gen Audi A4 and sell it as the New Seat Exeo
Competition Times!
How many shades of silver?
Haha... typical... the "Check Engine" light is on. I think that's a permanent fixture in most pre-2004 VW & Audi models. Too bad he didn't bother re-badging the steering wheel.
Why is this here? it's horrible and irrelevant.
Don't forget Bently, Bugatti, and Lamborghini are also part of the VW Group.
what happened with the steering wheel badge? he missed that one.. totally wrecked!
VW group = Audi, Skoda, Seat, VW, Lamborghini, Bugatti... Just great cars :)
(While on this specific TT, I would be scared it's just a Polo with thousands bucks spent to make it look like a TT)
Everybody sing..."We are family..."
"VW group = Audi, Skoda, Seat, VW, Lamborghini, Bugatti"
So if that's the case. why do i hear people say that Audi owns Lamborghini?
^ still vw group...but that it is correct
Its not called VW group, its called VAG, as in Volkswagen Audi Group.
They also own Porche
Or Porsche owned them.. what day of the week is it?
I think this guy is an idiot :@
Well, he'd be even more honest (especially to Volkswagen's historical and political roots) if he rebadged it as a KdF-Wagen.
KdF: Kraft durch Freude (Strength Through Joy); and if you want to know what the KdF was, google it.
THATS WHAT SHE SAID LOL
Here's a more historically correct logo for him to use... It's from VW's early, heady days when the Beetle was called "der KdF-Wagen":

Notice the sunwheel, a favorite symbol of the guy who gave the order for the founding of the company... And a favorite symbol of his admirers.
Ah, don't you just love VW's history and ideological background? I guess it'd be even more appropriate if owners of VWs and Audis also added the "14/88" number on their cars' grilles. It'd get them some very... interesting new friends. Not that they'd mind. Heck, they don't mind driving cars like these.
VW group = Audi, Skoda, Seat, VW, Lamborghini, Bugatti... Just great cars :)
Just CRAP cars, you mean - with the exception of Lamborghini and Bugatti. The rest are about as much crap as YouDies and DieYous.
